Just seemed all about money. Unfriendly owner and car park- like spaces. 20cents for hot water, 50 cents for shower and no hot water or paper towel after. Going to loo. Just felt mean. Pluses- not far from supermarket but half hour walk to town. We had to stay extra night due to lost van keys and no suggestion of...

I have written several excellent reviews and never seen the need to write a poor review before, however, Camping Alkmaar deserves only a 3 star review! The site is a bit tired, staff are a bit surly and unhelpful. The site facilities block is reasonable but the hedges are all in need of trimming and weeding. We parked where instructed...

Lovely site and really well kept. Walking distance of Alkmaar and easy for the train to Amsterdam. But...probably the most miserable and unhelpful staff we have ever met in 5 years of motorhoming and they charge extra for every last thing. 20 cents to wash up anyone? Even charged for the motorhome service point. Such a shame - but it...

Like other reviewers the paying extra for everything is annoying! First impression was bad, most unfriendly receptionist we have met outside of France! No choice in pitch, no manoeuvring on dates then when we asked where to fill with water we had to pay! Don't they realise just add a euro a night on the pitch price and make water/showers...

First Rate Site. The site is very well maintained and managed. The pitches are generous (Comfort pitch used), clean, and with some privacy. The shower block is recent and well maintained. Hot showers are 50 Cents for 5 minutes of hot water. The location is superb for walking or cycling into the town. which is well worth a visit for...

My husband and I stayed here on our 57km bike ride. We like the idea of staying in a Trekkers hut and this hut had everything we needed (except matches to light the stove...). Ups- Clean, close to Alkmaar and to the bike paths that lead into the city, 5 mins to the train station. Downs- no matches in cabin...

Expensive in comparison to their sites we stayed at in The Netherlands and I'm not sure why it was so expensive as it had no special features, eg shop, bar, pool. Everything costs extra, eg hot water for washing up, showers, Wifi access. Custodian wasn't particularly welcoming. Approx 30 minutes walk into main part of town. Alkmaar itself is well...

We were really happy in our Trekkers hut last July, it was basic but they fitted everything you need into a small space, we brought pans and sleeping bags, the only thing missing was a cool box or mini fridge. The hut had a nice dining table and 4 chairs, four really sturdy bunk beds built in, and a 2...

This place looks great with trees & shrubs but, we would not go there again. The campground charges a premium to begin with & then is extremely petty, charging for every little item. Want to wash dishes? That will be 20 cents for a few minutes of hot water. After 5 days in the campground the hot water malfunctioned. When...
