Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel is located in a former Palast, where queens and king lived. It looks very nice and good maintened. The staff is super kind, the room big and the breakfast great. And also the location is in the city center. By foot you can reach all important monuments.

I know the buildings well. I got married in the palace section in 1984 and went to school in the school section in the 1960s. Lots of memories. Room was good, service was nice and dinner I had was tasty. I can come back.

My husband and I stayed here a few nights. Great location to City Center. The room was clean and spacious as was the bathroom. We didn’t use the restaurant option because we felt it to be more expensive than what was offered locally. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. We would consider staying here again. Not sure why they have so many negative reviews- maybe it’s expectation / perceptions?

Its suppose to be four stars, mmmm, not quite! Il-trained receptionist, il-trained restaurant staff. Staff dont know what the rules are! Room was average with bad mattresses. A hole in one of our walls and a chair that had markings on it! Rather avoid!

We stayed here for three days on the first day they charged us for our booking which had already been paid and were told it would be credited back to us on checkout. At checkout we were told we would have to wait and see as they could not refund our money as we had had the conversation with another supervisor. It wasn’t worth the first charge let alone the second give this hotel a miss overall a very poor experience.

First of all, I was asked to give a review about my stay in this Hotel. I gave d them 2 points and then I wasn't able to declare why. Than I gave them 8 points and look at this ... all in a sudden, could declare why I gave this high score. This is the reason why I use my fake score to gibe this Hotel a poor result. I got a small room that was 28 degrees Celsius warm an was not able to open windows to get some fresh air in, because ... the don't have in this room windows you are able to open. Surching for a aircosystem: nothing. Only a a small hole in the bathroom that couldn't bring enough fresh air. After complaining about this, also because of Covid (fresh air is very poorly given). The Lady at the desk declared, that the wohl Hotel is fully occupied, but the next day we could have a chance for another room. Then we found out that many rooms wheren't occupied (Booking.com). After confronting the Desklady all in a sudden sie was able to offer us another, bigger room mit many big windows that could be opened. When confronted with the poor air chance (in relation to Covid) and my question how the Dutch health officials would react if they would get informations, I got no reaction, sie didn't now. The next day, when we paid for the room, without being asked, they offered us to that we didn't have to pay more for the bigger room. Although the big room (70m2) was nice to stay, I have to commend that drinking out of plastic and carton does not fit with the prices and the ambience they are trying to sell. Wenn I eat in the restaurant the price are high, but the service (Salt and Pepper lacking) poor. At the end: it was may first and last stay in Fletcher. The try to create an ambience this can not hold up in general. At the they should be in a lower rate category with lower prices

On the one hand, it’s very cool to be able to say we stayed in a palace. We could easily tell one of the larger meeting rooms had been a place to entertain many guests, maybe even a ballroom. The yard behind the hotel is lovely and inviting. The staff were helpful. The breakfast buffet was typical for European hotels, and we found the variety of Dutch breads, cheeses, and sprinkles a nice touch. The location in the center of town can’t be beat. Our bed was comfortable, as were the pillows. Being able to open the windows was wonderful, since we like to sleep cold. They even provided a fan that we could use both to keep the room cool and give us some white noise On the other hand—someone needs to put a lot of money and love into this place. It is in desperate need of a major facelift. We stayed on the first floor and the carpeting in the hallway was terribly stained and worn—sometimes right through to the floor. While the carpeting in our room was a tiny bit better, it looked so bad, I didn’t want to walk barefoot on it. The walls in the hall and in our room desperately need to be painted. I wouldn’t even sit on the furniture upholstered in cloth in our room. Everything was saggy and worn. I was also put off by the door locking with a key that only worked part of the time. There was no safe in the room and because we only had an old-fashioned key, we carried everything of value with us wherever we went. For quite some time, I wondered if I just didn’t have an adventurous spirit and needed to remember that perhaps standards in other parts of the world are different from what I’m used to. And yet… While having to park 500 meters away was a pain, I completely understood that Leeuwarden wasn’t constructed to accommodate parking lots near hotels. That’s simply the hotel and town’s historic roots. Would I have liked plush towels? Yes. Not a dealbreaker. But I still can’t get past how many areas hadn’t had attention for so long and what amazing potential the hotel has if someone would put some loving care into it.

Stayed in this hotel and received and up grade which was very nice to the suit with jacuzzi. The bed was super the jacuzzi amazing. The room is a little out dated but another thing is the noise from outside . The windows should be isolated better .

What a beautiful Christmas stay we enjoyed at the Paleis Stadhouderlijk Hof. This historic place used to be a royal palace from the 18th century and you can still see many of the original details giving off a royal aura. The hotel is located right in the heart of Leeuwarden with all the charming shopping streets and canals nearby. We booked this weekend Christmas package before the lockdown and we are very grateful that we did not cancel the booking. The staff went all out to make our stay memorable and upgraded us to a lovely suite complete with a christmas tree in our lounge! Since we could not eat in their renowned restaurants, we were treated with dinner in our room. The food did not disappoint us and the dishes were beautifully presented and scrumptious! We will definately be back and hopefully everything will be open again. Kudos to the staff for making our Christmas so memorable ;-)

Great location on a pretty square. Room clean but quite basic. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Tip: reception will provide this when asked - which we only discovered when checking out. Helpful (not). The sensor for the bathroom light (it does not have a light switch) was not working properly. It switched itself off after a couple of minutes, awkward when in the shower. This was reported but not fixed within a day. The hotel does not have a lobby as such. An area with sofas and newspapers would have been pleasant. My Mum uses a walker (rollator) and found the hotel hard to navigate. Lots of obstacles. Wheelchair users would not stand a chance.
