This is a quaint pub, that serves outstanding food. It is probably the best food we have been served in a pub for a very long time. Congratulations to the chef and his staff. Unfortunately it was a cold autumn evening and despite there being a traditional fire, it remained unlit and so our meal was eaten with our coats...

Good evening Carol, this is Fred - the owner of the Blacksmiths. many thanks for taking the time to write a review and give me some positive feedback - something it's priceless when building a business. We have owned the pub 5 months today and the place has undergone substantial improvements and changes. We are constantly repairing our beloved 300...

Had lunch today today the pie was not a pie but a casserole with a bit of pastry on the side!! the Pork &black pudding burger was ok ish The espresso coffee was weak & undrinkable, the best bit was the pint of Harveys Bitter, I have known this pub for over 60 years very disappointing

Good evening John C. Many thanks for taking the time to put your thoughts down in a review. Unfortunately myself or Oscar were not working on the day of your visit. - I have taken time to investigate the points you make. Firstly how a 'pie' is presented is open to huge interpretation and simply comes down to like or...

Had a fantastic stay here on 5th November. The room was gorgeous - 4 poster bed, stunning views of the countryside and immaculately clean. The hosts (as well as the ambience) was warm and friendly. We were already seriously impressed - and then we had breakfast...... and OMG! Just when we thought things couldn't get any better we were served...

We've been here 3 or 4 times since the new owners have taken over, the pub has been so tastefully redecorated and the menu has had a re-vamp too. I can honestly say I've never felt so welcome in a pub environment before. The open fire and great beers help alot but the owner is so attentive and really knows...

Dear Dan, Thank you very much for your comments about the business. As you know we are trying to keep international standards and expectations with a countryside flavor. The redecoration is still on , but we are doing our best to have it ready as soon as possible. Thanks again for coming and supporting our little restaurant. Fred and Oscar

We stayed 2 nights. Room was very comfortable and nicely presented. Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked to order, and the fresh orange juice was a lovely touch. Very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble and we were well looked after. Look forward to staying there again when next down visiting family.

Arrived late in the evening and was welcomed Very Friendly and shown to our room (Stoke), Which was warm and Clean. Nice touch was ear plugs for those who may have trouble sleeping. We didn't find it noisy even being above the bar. The couple only took over the hotel a couple of months ago. They are decorating the pub...

Dear Sharon, It was a great pleasure of having you and Russell as guests. We did enjoy your company and sense of humor. Remember my mum's tip about the apple juice, that it's great to clean liver. You should have picked some apples to make it at home before you left. Anyhow, next time. Thank you very much for this...

Had ciabattas with ample fillings and side salad. Chips were obviously homemade and lovely. Food arrived promptly and service was good. Lovely to sit in their sheltered garden on a September day. Look forward to our next visit.
