This hotel did not have the basic facilities:

1. No room service
2. No phone, need to WhatsApp a number to ask for anything. Response is slow.
3. The spa is not part of the hotel, it is a seperate company and you need to book with them. But it is impossible to get a massage appointment.
4. Take your own Swiss plug converter as the hotel will give all countries except the one you need to borrow.
5. Warning they take a holding payment without informing you. It will get released, but it can be a hassle.

dear Karthigar2019 Thank you very much for your feedback on tripadvisor. our goal is that our guests spent time in the public areas as we are a resort hotel. Also as a resort hotel we decided against a telephone in our rooms. But our guests can contact the reception per whatsapp. On Request we have phones at the reception which we can borrow our guests. the Spa is part of our hotel. Our Staff will be happy to help you for an appointment. Adapters are depending on availability. To guarantee your room at the hotel, we make an arrival check one day before your check in by reserving the first night of your stay on your credit card. This is only a reservation and will be released after your stay. We hope to welcome you soon again in our resort! best regards Pasa Özdemir Front Office Manager

This hotel is located right on the tainstation of Altsletten. About 10-15 min to centre, easy to get there. Recommending buying a 24h ticket for 8.80 (works on all transport)chf instead of single tickets if your not getting a pass. Good customer service. Our room was very hot, its not usual with aircondition, and it was about 30•c. Got a fan from reception and it helped a lot. No pool, but several saunas and spa rooms.

We stayed there for two nights. The hotel is pretty new and all was very clean. Spa was very nice.
The hotel is right at the train station Zürich Altstetten and very easy to access by public transport.

The only thing we missed was a bit more choice for dinner.

Newly built, beautifully decorated, modern yet cozy and clean hotel situated 5 minutes walking from Zurich Altstetten train station. Altstetten train station is 3 stops away from Zurich's central district (Zurich Stadelhofen). The convenience store at the hotel and the Nivea house is situated next to the reception and the convenience store is kept open for 24 hours. Apart from all these, next to the hotel building, there's a Coop Grocery store. I must say, this hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was beautifully decorated, and it was exceptionally clean.

I wasn't expecting much but was completely blown away by the hotel. Great value for money, spacious room and convenient location a few minutes walk to the train station, with two Coop supermarkets nearby (one of them open 7 days till 9pm). Our room overlooked the busy train tracks but was very soundproofed. As an Accor Gold we were given drink vouchers and upgraded to a privilege room with free minibar. The location, while convenient for work and a few minutes by train to Zurich HB, is a bit dead in the evenings and weekends but I'll still strongly consider staying here next time since the more central alternatives in Zurich are so expensive. Good job to the team running the hotel - keep up the good work!

I recently stayed in this property in Zurich. Let me list down the pros and cons for you -
pro:
Only pro is its proximity to Alstetten train station which is two stations away from Zurich central station. That’s about it!
Cons:
1. This hotel DOES NOT provide any amenities. Even basic things like a kettle or coffee or even a spoon were not provided in the room but kept at the reception area. They expected guests to get and come down everytime they wanted something!
2. Their bathrooms are weirdly designed. The doors don’t close completely so if you are showering inside you are visible to others in the room, so if you are staying with friends or so then it’s not the best thing
3. They didn’t even clean our rooms on one of the days. When we asked why they said oh but we don’t clean rooms everyday we clean it every alternate day! They never informed us about this policy. Honestly I thought they missed it and then made it up!

Overall, for the price this hotel charges, the experience is SIMPLY NOT WORTH IT! if you are in Zurich for a night for work then may be but if you are on a holiday this hotel will be a mood-spoiler!

dear Aditi Thank you very much for your feedback on tripadvisor. For sustainability reasons, we have minimized the use of cosmetic items and for security reasons, we do not offer kettles in the room, but you can get hot water free of charge at any time from our Starbucks coffee machine in our 24hour shop at reception. For sustainability reasons we also do the room cleaning every two days. However, if our guests require daily cleaning, it will be done daily. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back again soon. best regards Pasa Özdemir Front Office Manager

The restaurant in this hotel doesn’t accept US vaccination cards as proof of COVID vaccination. They they refused to serve us, even for sitting outside. The COVID certificate app that they wanted only applies if you have been vaccinated in Switzerland. So what are tourists to do?

Dear Nancy, thank you for your review. We greatly regret that our colleagues didn't accept your COVID certficate from the USA. The new restrictions weren't clear at the beginning from the government and certificates which have been issued not in the european union must be verificate with the new swiss COVID application. We hope to have the chance to welcome you again in the near future and look forward providing you with the best service and quality possible. At this time it is possible to accept the certificates from every country if the vaccination is accepted in switzerland and we are sorry for the circumstances. With kind regards from Zurich, Murat Sevinc Assistant Manager Logis

Mercure Zurich City has several shortcomings. The location, while a 5-7 minute walk from the main city center, is still far as it takes 20 minutes by tram to reach the center. The rooms are small even by European standards, with no view to speak of. The breakfast and ala-carte menu are limited. The staff, apart from Kris at the reception, seemed disinterested and barely communicative. The lack of air conditioning at the hotel during peak summer resulted in poor sleep quality. Additionally, the absence of phones in the room, room service, and housekeeping services is a notable drawback. The expensive sparkling water purchased from the lobby store, along with the unavailability of still water, added to the negative experience. Overall, there was a strong dissatisfaction with our stay at Mercure Zurich City and would not recco staying there unless proximity to the location is a priority.

Don’t book your room here. The staff is not well trained. Extremely rude and unprofessional management . They don’t seem to have any communication among each other. They had reprogrammed my room keys twice without informing me. I had no access to my room and has to call security guy to open my hotel room The security guy seemed to be the only sensible guy who understood the real issue and gave me access to my room

Their standard room is terrible . There is no space to
keep baggage you have to walk over your suitcases to move around in the room. May be that’s the reason they don’t clean rooms.

I am disappointed and would not recommend anyone to use this hotel/ resort. It’s very frustrating how they keep moving your rooms without your authority and throw attitude admitting their mismanagement skills

The rooms lack basic amenities; specifically there was no electric kettle, no landline to call the reception, no coffee/tea/sugar, no safe locker and no refrigerator. We had specifically requested well before our travel for a king size bed room which can accommodate a child and two adults and an electric kettle for our three year old but none of it was provided. However, the staff was polite and friendly and the rooms were clean.
