Detailed Reviews
The Splendid Hotel is a lovely, quaint old hotel right at the centre of all the action of Montreux. If you manage to get a Lake View room you will not be disappointed by the most beautiful views. We were lucky enough to be on the 4th floor and enjoyed a most magnificent sunset out on the balcony with some delicious local wine and beer. The hotel has a lot of charm and with its age comes some rustic character. Don’t expect the dull, clean cut modern look here, but instead you can enjoy some interesting historical feelings. Our room was clean and had tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was very small but functional. Our bed was super comfortable and the street side was even quiet enough that we slept with the door/window open. The staff were all super nice and helpful. They also allowed us to store our bicycles safely inside overnight. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely little family run hotel right on lake Geneva. David, who checked us in was very friendly and welcoming. He asked what we were interested in seeing/doing and gave great advice.
We were upgraded to a lake view room, if booking I recommend selecting this option if available, the views were simply stunning.
Attached to the hotel on street level is the Mayfair house bar which claims (and I fully agree) serve the best fondue in town. Montreux is a beautiful place, and I would highly recommend. Seeing the Freddie Mercury statue and the queen museum experience in the casino is a must!!
The room view photos attached doesn't even do it justice.

Hotel Splendid couldn’t be more ideally located, across from the steam paddle wheel boat and facing the lake. We had a wonderful room with a small balcony, but room enough for a small table and two chairs. Two doors open to the balcony to let in fresh air.
David greeted us warmly and made sure we knew exactly how to get to the chateau chillon. He offered us 1/2 price discounts for Chillon, but our Swiss Travel Pass covered the cost.
This is a vintage hotel that has been updated in some ways (internet, tv), but shows some signs of aging. We really appreciate the family keeping this hotel in the family for many generations.
The breakfast was comprehensive and we got a prime seat by the window.
Just make note that if you stay in the warmer months the hotel provides a fan for the room; leaving the windows open allows too much noise into the wee hours of the night.
Finally, this hotel is steps from the train station and quite convenient.

Stayed here for a week in January. The location of the hotel is near to the train station, but is one level down from the station. However, there is a lift for easy luggage movement between the levels between the hotel and the train station. Check-in was smooth and we had a nice chat with the owners. The hotel and the rooms were a little dated, and there was a cheesy/mouldy smell in the hallway, probably due to the old furnishings and carpeting. Having said that, the room was clean and faced the lake, so the view was awesome, especially in the evenings. One thing to note is that since the hotel is vintage, the room is operated by a key and not a card (couple of times we forgot to lock the door). We did not try the restaurant, but the bar downstairs was great for a couple of drinks before turning in for the night. Plenty of food options along the stretch of road where the hotel is located.

We initially just looked for a hotel near the train station and located in the centre. We reserved a room facing the back garden but they gave us a fantastic room facing the lake and ship station. A splendid view from the window! After the check in we sat on the balcony and just enjoyed the view for a long time. In front of the hotel there is also a bus stop from where you can reach Vevey or Castle easily. One drawback can be that at night there were lots of people at the restaurant on the ground floor and it can be noisy in summer. We slept well with the open window.

The title says it all. You are close to the train station and water for easy sightseeing and travel. The rooms are a bit dated with some wallpaper scratching and paint peeling, but that seems to be part of the old charm feel they are going for I suppose. The shower needs a drain cleaning as water pooled, but this was just our room. Worth staying here for sure!

This historic hotel is located overlooking the shores of Lake Geneva and a quick walk to the train station. The room is dated, but comfortable and quiet, even though it faced the Main Street along lakeshore.
Upon arrival, David gave us many suggestions as to how to access local sites and where to catch buses to get us around Montreux.
We enjoyed a great sunset our first night at the hotel, dining on the balcony outside our room.
The hotel's location gave us access to everything we need to see the sights in and near Montreux and Lausanne.

I was unsure of what to expect in Montreux. I had initially booked this hotel via booking.com. However, when I contacted the hotel directly to confirm the booking, they offered to match the price, so I booked directly. It was CHF 150 for one night in a
double lake front room with breakfast included.
For breakfast, freshly made scrambled eggs were on offer, which were delicious, as well as cereals, yogurts, fruits, juices and a selection of breads as well as coffee and tea. David's welcome was really lovely. He knew my name the next day and was very friendly and helpful.
The room itself was huge! I took a lake view double room with a balcony. It was fabulous to be able to watch the sunset over the lake that evening. The room itself is a little old-fashioned/dated, but the space and view make up for it, as well as the comfort of the bed and the fact that everything is spotlessly clean. There is also a TV with a few English-speaking channels if that helps to wind down (I usually avail).
Montreux itself seemed a bit up in the air with construction - it looked like the place was getting ready for or cleaning up after a festival. Lots of construction going on, so that wasn't great. but the lake trip is well worth it.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend the hotel.

Amazing lake view, wonderful breakfast!
I think this is the best you can get for a relatively reasonable price in Montreux.
You have a breathtaking view across the lake, the breakfast, again with lake view, was very good, however, the room was, how can I say it, somewhat poor. It had been kind of renovated, with laminate flooring in wood optics, very badly installed, then the cheapest furniture you can imagine, a bathroom with shower curtain, actually the renovation work was kind of an insult to the room, the bed was not a Queen bed but two singles put together with a gap in between, bedding soso, I was not feeling comfortable in this bed at all and the whole interior was very questionable. But it was clean, and the view and breakfast made up for it. I would still recommend it, but do not expect something modern or what you are normally used to. Other reviewers described it nicely with the words vintage Charme or so. As I said, for the price, compared to prices of the grand hotels, it’s really good.

I would say that this is a three star hotel, but there are some really good parts to it.
The views are amazing of the lake so do make sure you get a lake view room; service is really nice especially at breakfast when I was made to feel really welcome and my dietary request was remembered without me prompting.
My room was quite dated and the bathroom and bedroom were one, so this meant that if you were travelling as a couple of friends, you would need to do toilet in the same room as your companion!
The bedding was really good nice white crisp sheets, very comfortable bed. Nice toiletries and tea making facilities.
As a solo female traveller, I think in future I will make sure that I stay in hotels where the reception is open 24 hours. It was pointed out that they have cameras around the whole hotel which did make me feel a bit more secure. There were absolutely no problems of course, but for me it’s personal preference that reception is 24 hours.
A good hotel with friendly service. I’d recommend.

Not later than midnight as the entrance is locked and can only oh be opened by a pin. But you can check-in anytime before midnight.
Not sure my friend! Sorry I was on public transport all that week but the hotel does not have a visible car park but there is one across the road!
Yes brkfst was included.
