Detailed Reviews
I had a great stay of 2 nights at Aulac, room had a beautiful view at lake of Geneva. The Ouchy district is very authentic and beautiful and great for a stroll along the lakeside. Situated next to the metro station, It was also a good location for my business trip, for which I had to travel by metro to outside the city centre.
Room quality is in good balance with the price. I would have appreciated a electrical socket next to my bed, though. Personnel was friendly and spoke English well. The building is old, so the rooms and halls are a bit noisy sometimes. I didn't stay during the weekend, so perhaps this can be an issue if you are not a tight sleeper.

Great place to stay, friendly helpful staff. Room was clean and comfortable with a wee deck looking over the lake. So close to metro stop and Coop store. Very nice and handy. Continental breakfast was good with boiled egg option and smoked salmon, a little better than average European breakfasts. I would go back. Easy as a single person and handy walks along the lake and for ferry to Evian.

I really enjoyed my stay here! It is not a fancy hotel, but it was clean, very nice, conveniently located, and overall good value! I had a lake view room, and my view was fantastic! My stay came with a city transportation pass which got me around the city, and discounts on some of the attractions I visited. The metro is located adjacent to the metro too so very convenient. Many restaurants nearby the hotel as well. My only complaint was that the hallway on my floor smelled kind of bad. Otherwise great stay! I’d definitely stay here again if I came back. :)

Just a week ago we have stayed in Lausanne over a weekend to meet friends and to visit the city. The location of the hotel is unique with the harbour right in front of it, playgrounds for kids, veggie market on Sunday and the proximity to the beach, the metro station and restaurants was amazing. We have enjoyed the stay to the max. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, spacious enough for a family of 4 and had a priceless view directly to the lake. Value for money was definitely justified.

I stayed in Aulac hotel in Lausanne for a week not by choice but because the organisers of the meeting decided it as venue. I ended up recommending the hotel to the organisers for subsequent meetings on the last day. They let me check in at 10 AM. However they don't agree generally but I had requested them in advance with a very polite letter. I requested for top floor facing lakeside which was agreed easily. The view from window is superb and heavenly. Such a view perhaps not possible anywhere in the world. The room is though small but big enough to move about with all basic facilties. Adaptor is a must for gadgets which I had brought from my country. Bathroom neat and clean with good water pressure(and temp.) which may not be possible in many countries and hotels. The mineral water and coffee/tea is complimentary. Breakfast is exceptional. The bread of the hotel is already commented by earlier bloggers and it is true. But how much you can eat in a breakfast? You can taste things and you are full. Lunch is not included in room fare but its not expensive and neither cheap. There is a emergency exit staircase and most of us on the first day had experience of going there. You cannot return except through the ground floor which is also closed. There is knob which needs to be turned and the Eureka! you are out from hotel and come from entrance. This needs to be written in english and cautioned. They keep fruit basket in lobby for the guests and the fruits kept are so delicious which are difficult to find in market. This is comlimentary and once a day is OK and they don't stop you for that. However if you eat/take more it may not be possible! Iron and stand is available at reception. Internet and printer is available for CHF5 for 30 minutes but they didn't charge me for that. TV channel show you CNN + 30 french/swiss chanels but none of the asian channels. Beds 8-10 inches and with clean linen and pillows. Had no difficulty even for a day not sleeping. The area is OUCHY, a centre of attraction. You can walk three sides any time of the day. Ships also leave port quitely frequently. The best part the metro train is after one building 50 metres only. Starts at 6 AM and run till midnight. The metro/bus ticket is free for visitors till date of stay. The main station is Lusanne Gare 5 min by train and then Lusanne Flon which is the centre of the town. There are music/dance competition almost daily. Megros is the Mall chain and they have a shop about 100-150 metres away from hotel. Megros milk chockolate is only CHF 0.4 which is perhaps cheapest in the world without compromising on quality. Another mall COOP chain also has a store on other side of hotel selling daily things. Not so cheap but not very expensive either.
In short highly recommended for stay for its location, cleanliness, food (breakfast) and courteous staff. And fruit basket of course.

We were very pleased with this hotel. It overlooks the lake right in the centre of the waterfront area. The train up to the main part of the city is right beside the front door. The main railway station is 5 minutes away. We were a 15 minute walk from the Olympic Museum.
Our room had a great view with a balcony with a couple of chairs and a table. Since they hadn't expected 3 of us, they upgraded us to a two room suite that was very comfortable.
I had read a review on this site after my travel agent had booked the hotel. I was a little concerned with the reference to a strip joint in the comments - it has either closed or is not at all obvious. The lobby is not very impressive but that isn't where we spent any time.

Anticipating the fact that the hotel has no AC, I've booked a room with "city view" with the intention to get a room facing the north side (thus, getting less sun and heat). By "city view", don't expect to see Lausanne's beauties: at most, you'll see some AC fans, a lot of balconies and some restaurant flues (including their smells).
But this is just the top of the iceberg.
In the (very small rooms), there is no AC. Then, the low radiator is an easy step for kids to climb and lean on the balcony's handrail. Thus, you can't even relax in the room with a child and open windows!
Let's see the beds.. Even in the middle of the summer, the duvets are thick and hot. The pillars are very thick and hard (OK, this is subjective, but 3 * hôtels usually provide different pillows). Cherry on top, the bed is not flat and indeed has a "U" shape. Nice for a honeymoon night... So, in one word, good luck to fall asleep! I managed to sleep 3-4 hours in total.
The breakfast is OK, but the breakfast room is very narrow. So, don't expect to relax while taking your breakfast! And by the way, my Wifi was very slow.
However, the hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. But I really recommend the managing staff (or the owners) to spend some nights in the rooms: they would learn a lot.

Basically this hotel is located very conveniently and perfectly. Next door to the metro station, near Olympic museum, right on lake Geneva, right in front of ferry station, and near beach. I thought breakfast was good, it included: hardboiled eggs, fruit, coffee, juice, cereal, nutella, and different breads. On the negative, it's not a great hotel to be in all day. Its very old looking on the inside and needs renovations. Rooms are small, only sleeps 2 max. I advise getting a room with a balcony and view of the lake. The view is worth the extra!
I would give this hotel 2 stars if it wasn't for the good location.

Spent one night here in October.
Got a room on the 6th floor. Room had approx 40 degrees when I got it. Air condition did not work. After a shower I went to the reception and ask them to look at it. They said: "no it works and I am too busy!"
I protested and finally a receptionist joined me to the room, and yes, the air condition DID NOT work.
When I ask to change the room, he replied: "no, you have used the room. Can't put another guest here. You can open the window".
When I opened the window I realized people had not done that for years and it was dust all over.
I spent the night in a aging room, not clean with 30 degrees with open window towards a trafficked street. Slept two hours and woke up with the worst headache ever.
The breakfast was crappy too.
I am never coming back and would not recommend this hotel even to my worst enemy. Poorest service I have ever experienced.
