The Hotel Perren is just a great place to stay. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms are wonderful - very clean. We stayed on the 4th floor, our room was quite large with a view of The Matterhorn, which we had asked for. Their restaurant is quite good and the bar, Edwards a lot of fun. The breakfast is quite large and has an assortment of many foods. We love it here. We'll be back.

Hotel Perren is a high level 3* hotel in the heart of Zermatt. This is our third stay for Spring skiing (2020, 2022 and 2023). We missed 2021 because of Covid. We originally stayed at the Perren based on the recommendation of a Swiss friend. The rooms are large (a big plus) and well appointed. Our Matterhorn view room on the third floor had a fabulous view of the iconic mountain. The staff, with one or two exceptions are friendly and helpful. Half pension food (breakfast and dinner) was very good. The hotel is located close to a large ski rental shop (Flex Rent) where you get a 10% discount. Flex Rent staff is also very helpful. It is also located close to the bus routes that take you to the Gornorgrat and Kleine Matterhorn ski areas. The cable car to the Rothorn area is in easy walking distance. Going forward, the word is that the hotel will be sold and/or redeveloped to make better economic use of its excellent location. I believe a decision will be made this summer.

Everything about this hotel was a pleasure. Got a deluxe Matterhorn view room, not too expensive, and it was super-clean, large enough to feel like a nice place to be (not something I'm used to in hotel rooms), light, with a great balcony looking at the Matterhorn, quiet (though hot weather meant we kept balcony door open, so not silent), easy walk from the station, and close to everything in Zermatt (10 min walk max, mostly 5). Honor bar with Haribo by the gram, drinks, snacks, open all hours. Games and other things also at the "bar".

But the best thing was the super-helpful front desk staff, two of whom spent many minutes helping us choose walks to suit our needs (short one on arrival in late afternoon, others throughout our stay). Knowledgeable and accurate about the features of the different options, and full of good ideas.

Would go out of my way to stay there again when visiting Zermatt.

My family has been coming to Hotel Perren since 2011. We have just returned for our last stay at Perren, we were totally disgusted with our stay and where not surprised and also relieved to hear that the Perrens in fact do not own the Hotel anymore.
The Hotel appears to be run by teenagers. Our phone has not worked the entire stay after reporting it did not work on day 1 (our stay was 8 days).
My wife's expensive face cream was not in the room after a clean and when approached the staff stated they were sorry that the cream was taken by mistake. Who takes cream by mistake, what housekeeper takes anything that is not hotel property out of a room by mistake!!
A bar has opened up at front of the Hotel and was still pumping out music until 0100 in the morning after continual efforts to try and get them to turn the music down, our requests were denied. the manager was staggering around jumping on guests having a great old time. Sure it was new years night but music at such a high level until 0100 and the manager behaving in such an unprofessional way - please. Some people would like to go skiing after paying a premium for accommodation, ski hire and lift passes. the bar out the front appears to be a drinking and social gathering place for Zermatt employees and their friends, not so many guests.
After getting up early for breakfast we find that the chef is not in and unable to provide the normal breakfast. - really, bit too much to drink. Very mature and professional approach for managing a relatively large hotel.
After trying to book a transport for the morning to the train station, which seemed like an impossible task (you must come really early as we can't promise when the transport is available) we tried to confront the staff with the issues that we have had. The large blonde woman with tattoos came around from the counter and pointed at my wife getting up close and personal. At that point we left the foyer and are happy to leave the premises in the morning never to return. shame that the beautiful memories we've had with Hotel Perron, when run by the Perren family, have been irreversibly tainted. shame its now run by unprofessional, untrained teenagers. Embarrassing for the Perren's to still have their name attached to such a circus.

Please don’t loose your plastic key card because they charge you 5 Swiss Francs. The room and food is average with a good location. However, Most of the staff (including the owners) are not very welcoming to Americans. The wait staff is wonderful especially Roman who went above and beyond his job. The fireplace area is a very cozy.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. I believe it was room 205, a Matterhorn view room. It's a pretty easy walk from the train station which is super important in this town that relies on electric transport trucks to get around. They have a nice "social" area and restaurants and a bar that we did not utilize. We did have their breakfast which included warm items-something you don't always get in a European breakfast. Our room had a fantastic view of the Matterhorn. The weather cleared the 2nd day, and it was lovely. Nice sized tub (I used it which isn't something I normally do.) Comfy typical European beds. Big sized room. Very friendly staff. They thought I'd left a charging cable in my room; they emailed me right away and sent a picture of it when I asked, but it wasn't ours. This place met my expectations, and I recommend this hotel!

Really enjoyed our 4 nights based here. We opted for the room facing the Matterhorn and so pleased we did! The room was spacious, well appointed, scrupulously clean. The balcony was an added bonus and still caught some sun in October. The restaurants were great, with a set menu but choice of mains, the only advice would be offer guests the chance to upgrade to the a la carte, as we felt it would have been nice to have the option. Really friendly and interested staff and a nice touch the manager visited the restaurants and talked to guests either at breakfast or in the evening. Only 5 mins from the main street and 8mins from the station to catch the Glaier Express. Would highly recommend here.

If you are a fan of the old Hotel Perrin, you will find the new ownership disappointing. In an effort to put a new twist on the place, the breakfast room has been painted a dingy dark green, is poorly lighted and offers a very limited selection of food, a depressing start to the day. The croissants are probably day old. The ski room has been remodeled with lockers, making it very cramped. Hard to get 2 pairs of skis and poles in them. The rooms are still lovely ( although poorly lighted) and the new staff goes out of their way to work hard and make guests comfortable. However, they seem nervous, like management is watching over their shoulders, and they may be heavily penalized if anything is out of order. They are wonderful and hardworking and I hope the management is appreciative! I tried to inquire as to who the new owners are and got vague replies about managers and directors. Who are the new owners?
Sadly, we will not return.

First time stayers who came on a recommendation, and we recommend it to you. Brilliant central location, 2 mins from the middle of town, 200m to one of the main ski lifts and 20 seconds from the shuttle bus.
The hotel is well appointed and characterful with a small but very nice wellness centre, a couple of nice restaurant rooms and a cozy public bar.
The thing that sets this place apart is the genuinely friendly and very welcoming staff; every single person we encountered met us with a smile and a few words - it’s not a 5 star super luxury establishment, but that’s not the point, it’s the small details and staff warmth that make a place memorable - and this Hotel Team do it in style. Bravo and keep up the brilliant work.

Stayed here for 2 nights, hotel very clean and rooms comfortable. Breakfast had a good selection but not restocked very quickly especially if you go down later. Location is great only a 10 minute walk to the station and the Gornergrat railway to take you up to the top of the mountain. Only issue we had was we had already done the hotel online check in but they said we hadn’t! Even though we had received confirmation back. So had to do it all again.

Does the hotel have an Elevator, and does it service all guest floors.
Answer from Carole S
Dear munchendave, Thank you for your question. Yes, our hotel has 2 elevators for reaching the guest floors. 1 for each side of the house. However, please note that 11 stairs need to be taken to be able to reach the breakfast floor. There is also one step in front of the hotel. Please don't hesitate to contact us in case you have further questions. Kindest regards from Zermatt, Carole

Can't tell you of personal experience of snow in January, but my son has been to Zermatt in January and he said snow was excellent. We were there at beginning of May and you could have skied then! Hair drier in bathroom (normal in Switzerland), free Wi-Fi which worked in room. Great hotel, thoroughly recommend.
