Welcome to the magical place in Zermatt! The Hotel Mirabeau is tranquilly situated, only a few minutes’ walk from the Zermatt main railway station, and the famous Gornergrat station. A traditional family resort, it is owned by the second and managed by the third generation of the Julen family. Le Mirabeau is famous for “l’art de vivre” or the “fine way of life”; with its extensive gastronomic offering featuring several restaurants and bars; and the superb wellness facilities, complemented by magnificent views of the Matterhorn.

The Mirabeau is a decidedly upmarket (near luxury), contemporary alpine, family owned hotel located a 3 minute walk from the train station. The hotel's "deli" restaurant serves hearty, full flavored casual meals we loved.

Our junior suite was a very comfortable, largish room with an oblique Matterhorn view in the spare style of contemporary decoration. The bathroom was large, featured heated floors and had both a shower and a tub.

The quality of the staff was wonderful, All seem to have been born with warmth, helpfulness and genuineness genes- nice, nice people without exception.

The price for our stay was fair, but over Christmas became astronomical.

The Mirabeau is conveniently situated within walking distance of rail stations and bus stop: not too far to walk in ski boots with skis.
Our room gave a Matterhorn view and was very comfortable. The room was cleaned every day while we were at breakfast, with fresh towels every day. There was also a night turn down with a small chocolate every night.
The food was fabulous and superbly presented. We had the Taster menu of 5 courses per night which was not excessive. The Swiss and Italian nights and the 2 Gala dinners were also superb. We were served by some delightful waiters and waitresses and noted that everyone worked together to make the service efficient. Breakfast was self service, apart from fried eggs/ omelettes and coffee. Massive choice was available. Drinks are expensive so expect to pay £50 or more for a bottle of wine, 15 CHF for a G&T.
We didn’t use the spa, but I used the pool which was rather chilly! OK for swimming, but not for standing about. It is also quite deep. The jacuzzi was warm relief.
The ski room has heated lockers for boots and skis which are personal for your own room. The room is quite small, so could get busy at peak times.
The owners and all the staff were fantastic. Everyone was very polite and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We could not fault the service received.
It would be nice to see the hotel in the summer and experience the outside. As you can see, we had masses of snow which added to the Christmas atmosphere!

I have visited Zermatt on many occasions, winter and summer and always been impressed by the quality of hotel rooms and superb dinners. Zermatt and Switzerland in general has become very expensive. A small bottle of water, a coffee or a small tonic mixer will typically cost close to £5. Getting value becomes important in choosing your accommodation and if you haven't booked half board then maybe you will regret it as a burger and fries can set you back £30.
The Mirabeau is conveniently located only a few minutes easy walk ( no steep hills to worry about ) from the main railway station and the Gornergrat station.
With super new lift systems in Zermatt skiers only need to go to either the Gornergrat station, a short walk away, or catch the ski bus to take you to the Sunnega lift or to the Matterhorn lift. Because the buses generally empty out at the Gornergrat, the Mirabeau is so early on the route you are pretty much guaranteed getting on the bus during peak times.
I had a Matterhorn view room and was pleased with the separated twin beds - not the Austrian style thankfully - and the size of the room. There was a somewhat small bath in the ensuite so taking a shower required care as it could be extremely slippery.
There was plenty of soap and shampoo so I didn't need my own.
A heated towel rail was running 24 hours and that was helpful.
The restaurant is spacious and the food excellent overall.
Breakfast buffets included a large selection of items and they never ran out.
Orange juice was from a machine that squeezed the oranges and not from concentrate. The croissants were the best I have ever enjoyed and there was a wide selection of delicious breads and rolls.
The daily hot option included boiled and scrambled eggs and delicious bacon.
The veal sausages and mushroom / tomato mix was tasty but only lukewarm /cold suggesting the heater wasn't working as it should.
Dinners were 5 courses and presentation was typical of fine dining.
Everything was perfection and the chefs did a tremendous job.
If you were a visitor to this hotel and chose the 5 course tasting dinner it would cost CHF 80 per person so effectively £66 or thereabouts.
The staff were also very accommodating to anyone who had a dislike of a particular dish and wanted an alternative.
Service was excellent and some went out their way to please and must be commended.
The only negative for skiers is the size and accessibility of the basement ski boot room.
There is a heated locker for each room but if a couple of people are fitting their boots access is very difficult and exceptionally cramped. This is however not a reason to get overly concerned but a pity.
If and when I return to Zermatt I would place this hotel top of my list when comparing price and availability.

The hotel is a short walk to the station, ski lift railway, ski bus and the village. The staff in all areas of the hotel are delightful and could not do more to make your stay enjoyable.
The 5 course evening meal is spectacular and never failed to delight, to include the Swiss themed evening which offered Swiss specialities.
The breakfast buffet offered a good selection of both “hot” and cold food, or you could have freshly prepared hot dishes at an extra charge. Sadly the “hot” food from the buffet was often lukewarm and the scrambled eggs a large solid lump !
There is a spa which is well maintained and offers a good size swimming pool, large jacuzzi and sauna.
The ski/boot room offered individual lockable ski/boot storage and could be accessed from a set of external stairs at the side of the hotel.
The bedroom that we were allocated, did not do the hotels four star rating justice !(Inghams package)
Although adequate with a comfy bed and private balcony, it was tired, drap and in need of some TLC. The shower control was no longer fully attached to the wall, and the bedside light switch was worryingly lose. On leaving I checked under the bed to find an old slipper (not ours!) and a thick layer of dust. The room was also unbearably hot even with all the heating turned off and the only option was to leave the balcony door ajar when not sleeping. However there were nice touches such as bottled water and fresh apples left in the room every day.
If we visited this hotel again we would upgrade our room, check it had been properly cleaned and never eat from the “hot” breakfast buffet.
Other than that a great central skiers hotel.

If you plan to stay in Zermatt, make sure to check if the Mirabeau is available. The hosts are genuinely warmhearted, the rooms large, the views stunning, the mattresses super comfortable, the boutique SPA carefully planned and maintained and the food among the best of the town. Check out the Deli on the ground floor where authentic local food that is home-made is sold and served on-site and try dinner at the Veranda restaurant - Great value for money!

We stayed during ski vacation in this cozy property. Overall we had a nice stay and I would consider returning. The staff is friendly, the location is good (3 min to train station and Gornergrad station, 10 min ( in ski boots) to Sunnegga base). The 5 course dinner is excellent and there is a lot of flexibility for kids meal choices. The ski room serves the purpose and we got free snow shoe rentals. The hotel will pick up and drop off luggage at the train station. But a few service challenges hold back a higher rating. For me, the hotel doesn’t meet my expectations for 700+ a night and carrying four stars. To be fair - this is Zermatt in high season and maybe one needs to adjust expectations compared to elsewhere.
To list my gripes for full transparency: Poor temperature control in the rooms (no AC either) leading to poor sleep, it was too hot. One morning without hot water. The luggage picked up at the train station was incorrect - extra suit cases in our room and skis not delivered - I recommend checking luggage labels etc. Extra toiletry supplies (small shampoo bottles etc) and water bottle only provided upon request. The swimming pool is shared with another hotel and we couldn’t figure out, really until the end, where we would get towels from for the swimming pool. One of us doesn’t eat beef and the daily dinner menu had veal ( in addition to the daily fish option). We asked if we can opt for another meat option and the server came back with this message from the chef: “It is veal, not beef”. (!!!). We managed to get chicken in the end. And yet, as I mentioned , I can see myself returning because the vibe is positive, the hotel is generally solidly run, and we left with nice memories of our vacation.

We have been visiting the Mirabeau for ten years now. We have had some really lovely stays but this years visit was extremely disappointing. The room we were allocated was very dark, dreary and in need of updating, cleanliness of the room was very poor. I was there one day as the room cleaning wasn’t done some days until mid afternoon and they spent 8 minutes making the bed and cleaning the bathroom. Hence the room was quite dirty after a few days. No care was taken as it had been in previous years. We had no extra toiletries supply other than on arrival, coffee and tea was also not replenished. The food in the restaurant was very good but we felt that the usual welcome was missing and the English guests were not treated the same as other nationalities, I must say our evening waiter was very good and cared.
Unsure if we will return as this was a expensive holiday and it was spoilt.

Dear Mrs Hugill, Thank you for your honest and open feedback regarding your last stay at our hotel. We are very sorry that we could not (any longer) meet your expectations. We have immediately passed on your suggestions and points of criticism to the responsible persons & departments! The upgrade to Deluxe rooms (like you had the previous years) are unfortunately only upon availability, this is why we add to allocate you for the first time in a Standard room (such as you actually booked). We do our best every day to make every single guest feel at home. We are an open hotel for every nationality, as we are also an international team. It is always our concern that our guests have a special time with us & feel comfortable. We are very sorry that this was not the case for you this time. We very much hope that you will give us a second chance and that we will be able to convince you again in the future. Best regards from Zermatt, the Mirabeau Team

This is in my top 3 favorite hotels I’ve stayed at. We booked a package for 2 directly on their website and were lucky enough to be upgraded to an even nicer suite than the one we booked. If you can splurge on a suite or room with a view, highly recommend- it is breathtaking. The location is perfect: a 3 minute walk to the Zermatt Bahnhof and GGB station (for the Gornergrat train which you can take for sightseeing or hiking/skiing/snowboarding/sledding) as well as the local free bus station (great for getting around town or if you are going to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise). The hotel also has an electric car service that you can arrange to pick you up from the train or drop you off if you don’t want to walk with luggage or if the weather is bad. The hotel is off from the main road so even though it is an easy walk anywhere, it is nice and quiet. The service was excellent- Livia took the time to explain and show us all the amenities when we checked in as well as give some sightseeing and cafe recommendations. The cleaning staff did an impeccable job and were very nice. The included buffet breakfast is fresh and delicious and staff is available to help you with ordering a coffee or omelet. Loved the hash browns, fresh fruit, orange juice. The views from the breakfast/dining area are phenomenal too. Dinner was very good and one 5 course meal was included as part of our package. The sauna and pool are easily accessible downstairs, and there is a ski room where you can get ready and store your equipment if you come during the winter for skiing or snowboarding. Zermatt is a beautiful place to visit and Le Mirabeau was the perfect way to start and end each day.

My GF had some business to do in town, I followed her together with my sister for the weekend. The place is in good shape, the room just had everything you would expect for CHF500, clean, balcony with view, good quality of sleep, clean bathroom and good housekeeping. The Bar was pleasant, the champagne a bit too warm though, however they know how to mix a good Negroni and remember your preferences after your first visit. Great. Breakfast buffet is very good with lots of options, seating is comfortable. Did not done here. Close to all the action of downtown and therefore a good choice, recommend this place to anyone looking for good value for money (consider that you are in Switzerland...)

I spent a week here in towards the end of August and try as I might I can't find anything at all to complain about! My room (facing the street but, despite that, very quiet) was well furnished, had tea/coffee making facilities, multi channel tv (BBC1, BBC2, ITV and lots more, ideal for single travellers who prefer to stay in their hotel in the evenings) and was very comfortable. There was a balcony with table and chair.

Meals were excellent, breakfast had everything I could have wanted (although I didn't experience the cooked breakfast), and the tasting menu in the evenings was always delicious.

The staff from housekeeping to restaurant were wonderful, always willing to do anything they could to make your stay the best possible.

Would I return to the Mirabeau? Without a doubt the answer is a resounding YES!

We stayed in their top suite, there is a connecting room with a single bed. In the suite they have a bath tub in the middle of the room, I would not recommend it. It is also far away from taking the train up to the lift. Not conveniant if you have children with you.
