We stayed in Schiweizerhof for 2 nights and the location is so convenient, just 1min walk from the shuttle train station, alittle stroll to a bus that takes you straight to Sunngega funicular, which is also just outside the Gonergrat train station that takes you right up to see the Matterhorn. Our room was the small cozy room, just enough for 2 people. The design and comfort of the place was amazing. We were given generous quantity of Toblerone by room service and the room also came with a Dyson hair dryer + nespresso machine, very nice to have when you admire the mountains at the balcony that comes with the room. I would like to make a special shout out to receptionist Philip and concierge Nuno who actually helped me get my humble but sentimental hat to me in Singapore. I really appreciate their patience and reassurance over quite a number of concerned emails from me. OUTSTANDING SERVICE. Lastly, great breakfast, they even have a dedicated section for people who are vegan.

Dear kayliescomet Many thanks for your visit and your very nice review here on TripAdvisor. It was a pleasure having you as a guest with us. The location of Schweizerhof Zermatt is indeed very attractive, with train station, bus station and Gornergrat station just 1 min from the hotel as well as all boutiques just around the property. With pleasure I have forwarded your compliments to Philip and Nuno. They are really amazing. We wish you all the best and look forward to welcoming you soon again in Zermatt. We stayed here as a family of four for a week at New Year. Booked 10 months in advance and to be honest we chose the Schweizerhof as most other equivalent hotels higher up in the Trip Advisor ratings seemed to be giving previous guests preference and couldn’t offer us a room. Well so glad we chose this hotel, and I assume it will be rocketing up the Zermatt ratings. The complete refurbishment in 2018 gig ethics the feel of a brand new hotel; the vibe (soft music in morning, louder at night with a DJ, lots of low seating, fairly low lighting) felt quite unique in Zermatt’, but the modernity has a traditional edge to it which we felt worked brilliantly. We had a junior suite (huge double bed plus sofa bed) with a wonderful view of the Matterhorn. Large TV (with plenty of UK channels), spacious bathroom, nespresso machine) - all spotless. Service throughout the hotel and standard of cleaning was faultless. Excellent indoor pool with spa area including 2 jacuzzis, 2 saunas and a steam room which never seemed over crowded. Buffet breakfast was excellent and we ate three times for dinner in the main restaurant (there are also speciality a Peruvian-Asian and Cheese oriented restaurants). Wide drinks selection. Service and welcoming impeccable. Location also fantastic- a 2 minute stroll to the Gornergrat station, which is by far the most stress free way to the slopes. Only one minor point for improvement: why don’t the plus in the wash basins have rubber surrounds so that the basin can actually be filled with water? But in pretty much every respect this was a great hotel and I couldn’t recommend it more.

Dear KentishMole Many thanks for your outstanding review. We couldn't be any happier at the moment and I will be glad to share your words with our team. As we have just reopened one year ago and therefore have not so many reviews yet our ranking on this site is not at the top. But yes, we are doing our way :-) Again, many thanks for staying with us and already now looking forward to welcoming you hopefully soon again. Warm regards Roman Omlin, Resident Manager, & team PS: We will also look into your remarks regarding the wash basin!

The hotel is new, very nice design. We booked 2 rooms because I was traveling with my wife and 2 kids. They don’t allow kids to have dinner at the room. So if you want to order room service you shouldn’t travel with kids. The pool and the spa are really nice. The lockers for the skis and snowboards in the basement is very comfortable.

Dear 853matiasl Many thanks for your review and nice to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. Kids can of course also eat from our Room Service menu, sorry for this misunderstanding. I.e. with Cheese Burger and Penne we think that there is also a selection for them. However you are right, due to logistical reasons we are not able to offer the full kids menu on room service. We would love to welcome you back at the Schweizerhof Zermatt soon again. Best regards Roman Omlin, Resident Manager & team

We stayed at Schweitzerhoff last month and what an all-around amazing experience. The hotel is conveniently located to the train station and of course in the small town of Zermatt.
We really appreciated the attentiveness of the staff/cleaning/refills of items such as towels and tea bags. Our room was well appointed and spacious, with a ton of space for luggage, clothing storage, etc. One caveat and lesson learned, is that we booked a junior suite with Matterhorn view. Unfortunately we never saw the Matterhorn due to bad weather until the day we left. To clarify, this is no fault of the hotel's at all, but if we had known we wouldn't have wasted the money for the view.
The AYCE breakfast for all guests is so delicious. We ate it 5 days in a row and never got sick of it. Great selection of European and western style breakfast items, and you can order eggs to your style. We tried dinner in the restaurant one night and that was good as well, even the simple items such as the salad.
The amenities were great as well. The access to the spa was so nice for rainy days or after a hike. The area is generously sized with many different treatments, though wish the jacuzzi water temperature was hotter.
Lastly, the staff are incredibly nice. Always greeting you and patiently helping with any questions. Definitely recommend staying here!

We stayed a week over the New Year period. Rooms had all the mod cons and the spa was a relaxing space. The hotel is centrally located, less than a 5 minute walk from the train station. Some noise did come through the windows when noisy crowds walked through the streets. Catching the electric buses were very convenient as well. Breakfast counter offered some gluten and lactose free items. Special mention to Jose, the concierge, who gave very practical advice and even offered his own snow spikes for my walks.

We took Zermatt as our second stopover for honeymoon, when we checked in, they decorated the bed with sink rose petals, which does’t surprise me, I would prefer to have a champagne or a wine. That’s why I don’t feel any extraordinary service, the breakfast comes with many variety of food, the waitress there are friendly and welcoming, and busy, it seemed a bit under staffed. The decoration of the room is cozy and comfy, it also comes with a large balcony, lobby stuffs are welcoming.

Dear Chesterhui Many thanks for your stay with us and for your review. Expectations are always a bit different and so we feel sorry that we couldn't satisfy you with our nice honeymoon decoration in the room. On our side, we think just to place a free bottle of wine or champagne would be a bit impersonal. However we are happy that you enjoyed the rest of your stay. We had a wonderful experience at the Schweizerhof in Zermatt - for starters, it is very, very conveniently located in the heart of the town, close to the main station, as well as the Gornergrat cog railway. From our window, we enjoyed an amazing view of the Matterhorn (we were also blessed with multiple days of clear weather). The complimentary breakfast is delicious (try the smoked trout!), and dinner was good. The staff went out of its way to assist us, including spending hours on the phone to make sure that we were able to get our COVID-19 testing in our next location (which was not Zermatt). Would definitely come back if we return to Zermatt.

Our favourite hotel during our 2 week road trip around Switzerland. Modern Swiss-chalet vibe with a great lounge bar, beach bar (yes they have loungers in the sand!) and a selection of fantastic restaurants (we recommend The Cheese Factory). Rooms are spacious, stylish and offer fantastic in-room amenities. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom super chic (with a bath tub!). The balcony had some spectacular mountain views and the hotel is very central in Zermatt. Breakfast was delicious with loads of options and the COVID hygiene protocols were very well run. We look forward to retuning :)

Enjoyed our stay and would consider staying here again however would make a different choice of rooms for next time. "Matterhorn View" was a stretch (literally) not sure how they justify it. Our rooms overlooked the Bahnhoffstrasse which was nice in the day time however we were woken up both nights by loud party goers both nights of our stay at 2-3am walking through the street.
Great Breakfast buffet included in our rate. Make dinner reservations prior to your arrival if you're interested in dining at the hotel including the Cheese fondue restaurant downstairs.

Dear Ark1622 Many thanks for your stay with us and for your feedback - always very valuable for us. We appreciate your comments and are happy that in general you enjoyed your stay. Our rooms with "sideway Matterhorn view" face the Bahnhofstrasse. We are sorry to read that apparently on both evenings it was loud on the street. Unfortunately wherever you stay in the world at a central location this can happen, although it's not happening often here. We wish you safe travels and hope to see you soon again Roman Omlin, Hotel Manager, & Team

We just spend a week with our 2 children and 2 more families and we had a great time. What I enjoyed the most is that the staff « cares ». We had some tiny issues but they always received the staff’s full attention and were resolved very quickly. The family suite was perfect for our family, a beautiful spacious room for the parents and the kids sleeping in the living area in a very comfortable sofa bed, very big walk-in closet and lots of space in general to put all our belongings.
Ours kids really enjoyed the kids’ club, every evening our kids had dinner at the kids’ table and then went to play in the kids’ club. The nanny, Candle, was amazing; she brought activities to keep the kids calm at the dinner table and offered a big variety of activities in the club (lots of crafts, even cooking). The hotel has really invested in the toys they offer there.
The three restaurants were all very good and we were so grateful to be able to enjoy them during this Covid time. The cocktails are great, the wine lists is awesome with lots of Swiss wines definitely worth a try. We would like to give a special shout-out to Jurami, the maître d’hôtel at Muna & breakfast. He has a great sense of hospitality and an amazing sense of humour, we had great laugh with him.

The only small thing for me as I am an “outdoor” lover would be to create more space to enjoy the sun on a beautiful day, even in winter (apparently the terrace is open only in summer).

About 2mins walk to the Gonergrat railway - included in your lift pass and the very best way to get to the top of the central ski area with a single ride (and at the end of the day catch the train down again via the Landtunnel stop)
