Stayed with Jeannette and Thomas during the second week of Jan 2020. It was pretty quiet that week but I was made to feel incredibly special. I had the single room which had recently been refurbished - it was very nice and had an amazing view from the balcony - you will be taking pictures. Size wise, I have stayed in smaller double rooms!! I was accommodated on a half board basis, the breakfasts were of a continental style - but plenty of choice and homemade jams to go on the croissants :-) . The evening meals were 3 courses and although fixed, they were more than adequate for a hungry skier. That said, I am not a fussy eater, but if you did have allergies etc it would be easy to discuss with Jannette ( she speaks great English). Overall, a lovely place to stay, good location for skiing (2 mins walk to mountain train station), great views and lovely owners. I hope to be back again one day.…
Lovely little hotel very close to train station although a little off by itself. Beautiful restaurant and wonderful breakfast provided. Room was lovely with balcony facing a breathtaking view. Very helpful in communication.
Jeannette was such a gracious host, and we enjoyed visiting with her as well as the stay at the Alpenblick. The food was wonderful - breakfast was delicious and a great variety, especially the homemade jams. The room was comfortable and clean, and we enjoyed the mountain views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau directly across from the hotel! The Alpenblick was conveniently located right across from the train station, and a short walk from the center of town and the cable cars. This was a return visit, and we are definitely hoping to return for another visit! Our stay at the Alpenblick in Mürren was the highlight of our trip to Europe. Such a beautiful area in the Alps.
We booked a “superior” room which was one flight of stairs up from reception and had a balcony with two chairs, a table, and, most importantly, an amazing view across the Lauterbrunnen Valley to the Eiger, the Munch and the Jungfrau. The view is especially remarkable in the late afternoon and early evening, with the sun shining directly upon these snow-capped mountains. On one of our evenings, we purchased drinks at the hotel's bar, took them up to our balcony, and soaked in a memorable view that we may never again experience in our lifetimes. The Alpenblick, as others have noted, is family-run, and there is a very personal connection guests develop with Jeanette and with Thomas, who does most of the cooking. Jeanette was very helpful upon arrival in getting us oriented to make the best use of our time in Murren. Our room was somewhat on the small side, and the hotel certainly makes no pretentions of being fancy, but everything was clean and comfortable. A few things worth noting: if you have a room with the view and choose to leave your windows open at night, the little train that connects Murren with the cable car to Lauterbrunnen starts rumbling by shortly after 6:00 am. You will hear it. And the Alpenblick is at one far end of Murren, somewhat out of the way if you take the cable cars from Stechelberg or up to the Schilthorn; you may or may not find that ideal. But the hotel’s location can also be a plus. Its immediate proximity to the BLM rail station is convenient if you take the cable car up from Lauterbrunnen. And if want to spend some time in Lauterbrunnen or Wengen, it is quite easy to do so from the Alpenblick; for that matter, you can buy a single ticket at the BLM rail station all the to the Jungfraujoch. We chose the Schilthorn and Murren as our base over Wengen and the Jungfrau, and we then selected the Alpenblick because it was family-run, promised amazing views, got mostly excellent reviews and was reasonably-priced by Swiss standards. It came through on all counts, we are glad we stayed there, and we would happily choose to stay there again.…
Clean and friendly. This husband-wife team make you feel welcome in Murren. Breakfast is included with your room, and is a nice spread of cheese, meats, jams, and bread. It also has hard boiled eggs, fruit, cereal and coffee. Rooms are very clean with balcony doors so you can sit outside your room and admire the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Restaurant serves a wide range of food and is prepared by the husband. We had the 1/2 fried chicken with fries, barley soup, and a sausage dish. It was all good and reasonably priced for the area. The wife runs the reception desk and is knowledgeable about the local trails and their difficulty levels. We had the apartment, and 2 rooms on the second floor. Apartment had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a separate kitchen area with seating for 7. The other rooms are a little small, but very clean, and they have a balcony as well. Free Wi-fi with a strong signal. The hotel is located on the edge of town so you don’t get the crush of tourists others places get, and you still get the views.…
