For clarity, is a review for the Sport lodge, as there is another part of the hotel that is shown in the pictures, but where you actually don’t stay. Basically, the pictures speak for themselves. Expect that all common areas have dirty walls, dirty carpeting and a stinky kitchen with old and worn out pots and pans. Shared toilet is filthy with no ventilation. Whenever someone uses it, the smell lingers in the hallways. Showers have spiders in the corners and stuff on floors... who knows! The rooms are cramped, but could be comfortable. However, just as you think you will find some refuge, expect banging of doors, heavy foot traffic or the cleaning lady doing laundry at 11 o’clock at night. To top things off, the only main door leading to the outside “just” happened to malfunction as we were checking out. Witnessing people jumping out the kitchen window into a foot of snow is just not something you want to deal with on your supposed winter holiday. Overall, I was grossed out by this place and no, I would never recommend it to anyone. ALL common areas need thorough cleanup, paint and general upkeep.…
Escaping the summer heat wave, we popped in for a few days in the alps. The pop up lodge is located in the former Palace Hotel building. The rooms have been refurbished, while the rest of the place is still stuck in the 1970s. The reception is now at the sports centre on the other side of the road, with limited hours. Views are fantastic, as is the free access to the indoor pool, gym and sauna of the sports centre. The breakfast is basic, but OK for the room prices. Considering the location, season and free add-ons, the price / quality ratio is excellent. Splurge for "Comfort" category for a large room.
The stay at the Pop-up & Sport Lodge Murren was very pleasant. We made the old hall of the Palace tremble. The rooms are bright and renovated and the staff of the sports centre is very friendly. We‘ll be back!
Beautiful surroundings, the hostel is very easy to locate...It is next to the community sports complex. Nick provides you with everything! Two Italian restaurants are nearby for beer and food. Cable cars for Schilthorn are at a walking distance. Coop opens up at 8 am in the morning and is just a 5min walk from the hotel. Every Wednesday evening there is a small carnival which happens at the sports centre, its a great time to interact with other people and click pictures. Murren is very famous because of Bond film shooting here. It is covered in the swiss pass too!
