New 3-star superior hotel "Spitzhorn" with 4-star infrastructure in a 5-star setting The grand opening of the new 3-star superior hotel "Spitzhorn" built in the typical chalet style took place in December 2013. The hotel is located on the sun-drenched side of Saanen. "The Lightness of Being" is the motto of hosts Mr. And Mrs. Ilse and Michel Wichman and their team. The 50 rooms with 110 beds offer spectacular views of the region's beautiful landscape. A games room will be set up for children. The service includes seasonal brasserie cuisine in the restaurant, as well as wellness, fitness and swimming pool facilities, a sauna/steam bath and a Kneipp hydrotherapy and massage area.

Spent three nights in this very friendly hotel. Excellent service, good food, excellent breakfast and nice big rooms although one should get a room higher up to enjoy a view of the mountains. Spa area is fine but the pool can get a bit crowded. Would come again!!

The Spitzhorn has all that you might expect for a 3 stars mountain hotel!

The place is warm and very clean. You feel confortable and the staff is very welcoming and accommodating (very nice owner too). We made some last minute changes which were quickly taken care of. The ski lifts are in 10 minutes by bus from the hotel and the bus station is in 5 minutes walking.

The SPA is a real plus, it's very beautiful, clean and spacious. The isolation between the massage room, the pool and the sauna zone could be better. We could hear someone rehearsing the piano while having our massages and also people shouting in the swimming pool while being in the sauna which is not ideal but didn't prevent us form enjoying the facilities and relaxing.

We had a south exposed room with a terrasse, very bright and quiet with a comfortable bed. We were only a bit surprised that the bathrobe wasn't available in the room and that we had to pay a supplement for it. Other than that it was perfect.

We would definitely recommend this place!

We’ve stayed at Hotel Spitzhorn before. This time we stayed with both of our kids. The room was spacious and the view is lovely, you can enjoy the sun on your own balcony while the kids take a nap. The food was excellent from Breakfast to Dinner. All the Staff has been great, helpful, welcoming, professional and very friendly. You can feel this Hotel is run with great care by the always present owners. We will be back.

On the positive side there are absolutely no complaints about the cleanliness of the hotel. Nicely located, and nice terrace area. The manager was at pains to appear friendly, and this was reflected in most of the staff. The quality of the food was excellent. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate.

Sadly the bar experience left a lot to be desired. It really isn't difficult to make a gin&tonic, and whilst an Aperol Spritz is a little more complicated, it proved beyond the bar staff to serve them consistently as expected.

Whilst acknowledging that the food was good, the menu was such that it was difficult to find enough variation for a whole week. As such, we have up half board 3 nights out of 7 just to get a bit of variety.

It was also difficult to understand the price politics of 'a la carte' versus half board (there was no separate half board menu, as would be expected). E.g.some courses on the menu that cost more than others didn't carry a surcharge, whilst the cheaper one did.

On the subject of extra charges, can you believe they charge an extra CHF10 for a bathrobe! This when charging CHF 330 a night for the room. Oh, and make sure you don't lose a plastic key card, as that will set you back CHF20.

Feels like newly renovated with a good charming style. Big rooms. Modern bathroom. Perfect modern touch overall with cosy, wintery atmosphere. Bravo! Amazing: ask for special wishes and the owners will truly try everything to make it happen. Thank you! And see you very soon again.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Spitzhorn in February and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The rooms are spacious and super clean. The entire staff was beyond welcoming. We really felt like we were staying with family. We ate at the restaurant every day and each meal was delicious. The breakfast buffet is the perfect way to start your day before heading out on the slopes. We can't wait to revisit one day when travel bans are lifted. You won't regret staying here!

My boyfriend and I visited Hotel Spitzhorn for 3 nights. The stay in the hotel was very comfortable, relaxing and cozy. For us, it was important to find a hotel which had easy access to hiking trails. Hotel Spitzhorn definitely provides that. Great central location to nature and restaurants.
We would definitely visit again!

I stayed here the other week for two nights for my short visit to Gstaad. This hotel was amazing!!! From the moment they picked me up at the train station to the moment I left everything was grand. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff are so friendly and warm and nice. The food was great. The breakfast was awesome. My room was perfect and the bed super comfortable. I would absolutely stay here again. Five stars all the way for much better prices than you will find in the heart of flashy Gstaad.

Except for overpriced Ultima, I tried practically every hotel in Gstaad, Saanen and Rougemont... Spitzhorn is, in my opinion, by far the best value for money alternative in the area...

5 stars service
5 stars food (complete and fairly priced wine selection)
Excellent location
New, spacious, nicely decorated rooms
Lovely spa and indoor pool

Hope to be back soon!

I don't know about glacier exploration, just phone or email the hotel to ask. There are two train stations within relatively close proximity. It's a 5 minute walk to the Saanen station, but I believe fewer trains stop there. It's a 5 minute drive to the Gstaad train station, which is more of a central station. I'm pretty sure the hotel would pick you up at either one WITH your luggage. Again, just email or call to arrange.

Not sure what you mean by the "lounge/bar," but the Spitzhorn has its own really nice restaurant out of which it serves breakfast and dinner. Not sure about lunch, but I think the hotel offers full board, so it may serve lunch as well. In warm-enough weather, one can sit out on the terrace and look around at all the mountains, and the inside space is large enough for quite a few people. The food we ate at both breakfast and dinner was excellent, so more than just offering an opportunity to eat, you will likely enjoy something you consider to be exceptionally tasty. Also, the hotel is about a 5 minute walk to downtown Saanen, which has a number of shops and restaurants. Gstaad itself is about a 5 minute drive away and is a bit larger than Saanen. Both towns have their own train station, so you can get off at either, depending on the train you take.
