Definitely not your poshest place to stay in Lucerne but its ok. Price is quite reasonable and the location is not bad either, maybe 7 minute walk to the famous bridge. Has a laundry on site but small charge for it. There is also reserved parking but do make a reservation ahead of time otherwise you will be battling it... More

Upon arrival at the hotel, our guide comments was that the rooms door and wall are very poorly sound insulated (i.e do not talk too loudly as it can be easily overheard). Ended up we can totally hear what was going on around us. There is no sense of privacy. Front desk starts work at 7am. So there are no... More

The outside atmosphere around the hotel is OK, but the most terrible thing is inside the room especially the bed and the carpet. The very old pillow and bedclothes made me feel bad and cannot sleep well all night long.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! I saw this hotel in a Rick Stevens book and thought it would be ok. Well, I arrived on a Tuesday at 1:00pm in August 2008. There was NOBODY there, the lights were off and the front door was locked, which I thought was very weird for a “busy” hotel. Since this hotel was on... More

Selected by our tour company (Cosmos) this was one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in. Noisy all night long with constant yelling and banging of car doors in the street. Hot,hot, hot. Very dirty and stained carpets.

Ditto to the reviews posted in March 2004 - unfortunately, we didn't have the opportunity to check Trip Advisor before booking. Amazingly, this hotel was recommended in Rick Steve's Switzerland 2005 book, so we assumed it was a safe bet. We were wrong. I am quite sure my husband and I were the only respectable couple staying in the hotel... More

Dirty hair covered sheets and loud music from the bar below and ladies of the night on each side of our room, made it for uneasy sleep. Upon complaining to management in the morning we were assured that our credit card would be refunded half of the total cost. Surprise, surprise that never happened either. DO NOT STAY AT THIS... Lucerne was fine, even on a dreary day when no mountains were visible. The shops were interesting. The Starbucks was a welcome respite on a rainy day. But the CityHotel was the worst place I have stayed in Europe. The sheets were not clean. It seemed very much like a pay by the hour establishment, with hourly appointments going on... More
