Detailed Reviews
The hotel consists of a couple of floors in an old building very close to Old Town Geneva and Rue de Marche, a very expensive shopping area. Be prepared not to have a refrigerator, microwave or in most rooms Air-conditioning (which isn't usually needed, but might be.) In the one bedroom units you get a 7.5 wide x 13 foot deep room with french doors that open to a 7.5 x 3 ft balcony. On the 5th floor the rooms are cleaned only on Tuesdays and Fridays so you will probably need to ask for more towels and toilet paper between those days. The TV has about 30 channels, none in English. Most are worthless.
Since there's no refrigerator, you will be buying your dinners and snacks etc at the highest priced area in Geneva. You can easily take public transportation (each renter gets a pass for the trams and busses) to Ferney Voltaire just across
the French border. The Carrefour grocery store there is great and about half of the Swiss prices. Remember to plan for the fact that stores close at 6 or 7pm and all day on the weekends. The Migros grocery store in the Cornavin (train station) is open until 10pm on the weekends. )

Thank you for your comments. We are a 2 star family hotel catering for a budget type clientele in most of our small rooms. However we do have larger rooms, suites and apartments wit all the frills like fridge and airconditioning...Switzerland is an expensive place, high rents and high salaries....not much we can do about that which is why our hotel offers different types of accomodation. Thank you again and hope to be able to welcome you back another time.

This was our 4th visit to the Hotel Central - it’s friendly, comfortable, full of character, fantastically located and well priced. We know Geneva well and cannot think of a better location to access the Lake, shops and restaurants within 5 minutes on foot. It’s also terrifically quiet! Public transport is less than a minutes walk.
Our apartment (No. 43) had 2 large bedrooms, a hugely spacious, bright and airy open-plan lounge / dining room / kitchen (with dishwasher), a bathroom with shower and a small terrace, with views over the city and Jura mountains in the distance. There were wooden floors throughout and air conditioning in all rooms except the bathroom. The air con. Could have been stronger in the large living area, but it was exceptionally hot when we were there.
There are 2 very small lifts from the lobby area to all floors, so guests should be aware of this if they are claustrophobic. Breakfast is no longer served to apartments, but there is an arrangement for a cheap, simple breakfast in a neighbouring restaurant at ground level. This was a good option.
The staff are super-friendly and attentive, immediately dealing with any small issues that arose.

Geneva, what a place! The most pleasant people, the cleanest environment and such fantastic public transport that is free.
If you want a truly central location, 3 minutes from the lake and right on the edge of the Old Town, then Hotel Central is for you.
There’s a variety of rooms from the small to the spacious so give them a call to talk about the options.
The staff at the hotel are absolutely first class. Any small issue is dealt with quickly and with true compassion.
The local area has more fab restaurants than you can imagine.
Please do have a fondue, go for the perch from the lake and enjoy the local wines.
Top tip- use the Mouettes (water taxis) to cross cross the lake. They don’t cost you a penny.
Visit the co-op near the hotel, buy very cheaply what you need for a pic-nic, including lovely wines cheaper than in the UK and go sit on a bench and watch a different world go by.
Location wise this hotel is blooming fantastic. Talk to the staff and they’ll point you in the right direction.
Oh the last bit . Definitely buy a “chocopass” and do a tour of at least 8 Chocolatiers. We’ve never had so many sublime chocolate samples (that a few days later we’re still working through)

+1
This small family-owned hotel is centrally located bang in the middle of the cosy old - town of Geneva.
We booked a quad room and were given a spacious cosy appartment-style accommodation equipped with kitchenette if one needs to prepare or warm-up food and beverages.
This hotel didn't offer breakfast but there is Coop within close proximity on the other side of the road where all necessities can be acquired.
We did hear a bit of noise but not overly disturbing.
There is aircon and TV offering multiple channels in the rooms.
The bedding is of good quality and the decor provide a sense of homely feeling.
The staff at reception were helpful and Ludovic was the friendliest one. I was told that the Swiss are generally cold people but I believe that they are protective of their own comfort.
Coming from Australia, we fully understand mutual respect and like to get things done right the first time, these are our common quality traits.
Therefore, one is expected to look after the amenities like their own and appreciation is the key-word.
The only downside which we are not use to is people smoking under covered area at the building entrance. I am sure that this small inconvenience can be addressed with the building management.

It was our first time in Geneva and we wanted something convenient to the center of town. Hotel Central lived up to its name and provided a city metro card which covered public transportation including water taxis. The room was somewhat dated in wallpaper, bathroom and kitchenette, but everything was clean and there was regular maid service. I would recommend to anyone wanting a kitchenette in the center of town at a reasonable price.

Staff was very welcoming and helpful the hotel served it's purpose of being a place to rest your head & take a shower. We stayed in the room with two twin beds & the green cabinetry. The bathroom is just a few steps down the hall & is shared with two other rooms. If you are looking for a place to rest up after a long day touring the city then this is a good place to do that, if you are looking for a bit more from a hotel, you may want to look for more options. Also of note, there is a Coop Grocery store nearby, as well as a pharmacy & coffee shops. Good location in the city & only about 15 minutes on foot from the train station.

Nice to hear that you enjoyed our simplest of rooms....we have more luxurious categories, even with AC, at a slightly dearer rate but still good value for Geneva. With best regards Erik Gangsted

Fabulous Location and great selection of Room types, right in the heart of the old town and near to shops like coop - needed when in Switzerland as it is very expensive.
I had apt 10, nice 2 bedroom place with small dining kitchen (a little bit dark). The main bedroom was enormous. Their was no hairdryer.
My friend had a room 31 with a very spacious living room with lots of light.
Lift access was good.
Reception staff were lovely and helped sort out problems we had, including bus routes.
They provided ear plugs due to central location I used them and was fine, kids didn't and said it was noisy with vacuuming etc.

Before we had even arrived for our stay I had experienced outstanding customer service and hospitality.
Christine and the staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The apartment was immaculate and very comfortable and we loved coming back after a full on day and just relaxing with a bottle of wine some take out and Netflix really for the next days adventures.
The beds in apartment 42 were super comfy and we woke up rested.
We loved the ease of our stay checking in and out and the convenient location close to major attractions and public transport, train station, bus and yellow boats.
The difference you experience from a large chain hotel and family run business is so obvious.
If we ever come back I would absolutely come stay here again.

The Hotel Central was a great choice for us. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. We stayed in one of the apartments and found the rooms to be quite comfortable - excellent beds, quiet at night. Location was very good. The hotel staff were helpful even before we arrived in Switzerland, helping us find transportation and tours, great restaurants, all of which turned out to be spot-on. I would easily stay here again.

Very nice, quaint and simple. Reasonably priced and exceptionally good service. Excellent location for visiting the few attractions in Geneva, and near some very good restaurants. Nice little balcony overlooks some of the nice apartments and library. The hotel staff reached out ahead of time via text to ask how we would like our beds configured (two twins or one queen) and also to see what time we would be arriving so that they could be ready for us. Our flight was delayed, so we were an hour late, and they were there for us after typical times that the front desk would be staffed.

Hi from Hotel Central, please make your way to our hotel when you arrive. We will do our best to have your room ready.. as check out is at 11am, we cannot guarantee it will be ready. You can always leave your luggage at the reception while you wander around geneva.
Your room should be in the 6th floor.
Best regards and see you soon
