Kip A wrote a review Dec 2021
Pleasanton, California

As we were greeted at the car by the bellman, he asked our name, and everyone inside knew it as soon as we walked in. Such a warm, friendly reception. The lobby is small, but artfully decorated for the holidays and there are several restaurants to the right of the Reception area, and a large bar/restaurant to the left that had a big (gas) fireplace that certainly added a nice feel. Our room, 542, overlooking the river, is not huge, but certainly big enough and comfortably furnished with a cozy queen bed with soft sheets and puffy down comforter and pillows. The bathroom is large and tiled in travertine of a neutral color, with a standup shower with both a hand shower and a rain shower, and a soaking tub. The water pressure was amazing and so nice not to worry about water usage - since we are from California, that is often what we have to do.

A couple of things in the room that I think could be improved: more lighting! The room was pretty dim with several lamps, but nothing overhead, and the bathroom equally dim. Lighting is definitely needed there around the mirror and in the hallway. The closets, surprisingly, while roomy, had no automatic light that went on, something I always find even in less expensive hotels. Also, the USB ports were not working and the shower handle so tight that it was difficult to turn on. The good news is that the shower handle and the USB ports were fixed as soon as we notified Reception. The dimness is something that needs to be addressed soon!

Also, this hotel is on the river, not the lake, and that may be a detriment for some, but fine for us as the view was lovely. Also, the exterior of the hotel definitely needs some work, especially compared to the exteriors of the Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton and Beau Rivage, on the opposite side.

Will I send clients here? Yes, I will, because the service was amazing, especially the concierges Sam and Mathieu. Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, all can be applied to them. The front desk staff was equally lovely. They helped us even before we arrived getting COVID tested on Christmas Day for our family members that had to fly home on the 26th! They had a local spot and the pharmacy was fabulous, it was called Beau Rivage and the pharmacist who works there is the best!

We did not eat at the hotel, instead choosing local restaurants and we were not disappointed in that. So although I saw the prices were high, consistent with the type of hotel, I can't say if eating at the hotel is worth it or not.

I had a very nice treatment at the hotel from the start. Staff was professional, kind, helpful and friendly.
The location was also very nice where I could walk to different venues in less than 5 minutes.
Room was very comfortable and clean, with special welcome touches. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Bathroom was very clean and I felt comfortable to use the tub (usually I don’t) for a relaxing bath.
I would definitely stay again in this hotel, and I truly recommend it for anyone traveling to Geneva for leisure and buisiness. My experience was very good overall.

Geneva is beautiful and peaceful. To explore a city like this you need to stay in a place with good location and strong service culture. We stayed in Mandarin Oriental Geneva for two nights and was very impressed with everything the hotel provided to us. The hotel is overlooking the river and everywhere you need to visit as a tourist is within walking distance. Less than 20 mins from the train station and old town. The room are spacious and the food in the newly renovated restaurant Yakumanka are authentic and delicious. But the best is the service in this hotel, from the porter to the reception staff, to the concierge as well as the HSKP staff, everyone seems know you after you check in, they greeted you every time when they see you in the hotel with your last name, you felt like stayed for a month after 1st night! Thank you Mandarin Oriental for such a fantastic experience in Geneva!

Interesting old hotel with a central staircase that had sculpture and scenery all the way up. Even though we were on the 5th floor, we used the stairs exclusively because it's good exercise and because the elevator was about the size of an old phone booth. The rooms were fancy, almost gaudy, with full wall mirrors, but were quite comfortable with good bedding and pillows, a large bathroom including separate large shower and large soaking tub. There was also a bidet, though it didn't have enough water pressure unless you wanted it tepid. They had a handful of English speaking stations on the TV. Location right on the Rhone, it was an easy walk to the central area of town, and the staff was helpful in helping find restaurant options.

This hotel has excellent service with a welcome friendly touch.
The concierge service at this hotel anticipates your needs and also makes great suggestions
I asked about the location of a particular cigar shop in in Geneva and the concierge suggested a much better place. He is also a cigar smoker and left me a gift of two very nice cigars. I thought that was very kind
I travel for business and usually stay in luxury places. The MO had the best concierge service I have seen extremely but professional but friendly. I don't usually find the friendly touch at luxury hotels in Europe.

My daughter and I stayed at the mandarin oriental for a 5 day site-seeing visit and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The hotel was pristine with views overlooking the lake. It was really centrally located for getting to all the tourist attractions and we ended up walking to the majority of our destinations. Everyone from the doormen to the front desk staff to the cleaners were super friendly and attentive. We did have a problem with our room on the second night when a very prominent smell of someone smoking flooded our room, as non- smokers this was unbearable. We reported this to the front desk and they immediately sent someone up to investigate as the hotel has a no smoking policy. They offered us another room straight away, but we ended up moving the following day because we were so tired. Overall this was a great stay and we thoroughly enjoyed it

I don't think my children will ever forget the welcome they received at this hotel. We stay in approximately forty hotels a year but this has blown every hotel since their birth out of the water! Thank you. Aside from the personalised sweets in the hot air balloon we were treated to a room upgrade as MO members which was fabulous. The room itself was a little bland and could probably benefit from some artwork on the walls but it was super spacious and comfortable.
The hotel is in an excellent location, just minutes walk from the shops. The staff are slick and super friendly, they cannot do enough for you. Breakfast was a highlight, not just for the fabulous array of food on offer but for the wonderfully, cheerful manager who seems to have even the busiest service under control.
We had an excellent stay in Geneva. If you are a chocolate lover, I highly recommend buying the Choco pass, it was a great way to get to know the city and for once the children didn't moan about walking!

I very much enjoyed my stay in the Mandarin Oriental Geneva. We visited for 1 night but arrived early in the day before check-in and were delighted to have our rooms available which we were not expecting. The hotel staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Not long after arriving in our room we had some fruit and cake delivered which was a lovely surprise. The rooms were large and spacious with great amenities. As we were heading onwards from Geneva skiing we had a lot of luggage so it was great to have a large closet within our room so as the luggage was not taking up space in the room. We spent the day out and about in Geneva but returned to the hotel for drinks before dinner at the bar. The staff and the bar we very friendly and made great conversation and recommendations before escorting us into the hotel's Peruvian restaurant for dinner with our drinks. Our experience in Yakumanka for both dinner that night and breakfast the next morning was outstanding. Service was amazing and food was out of this world. During dinner the food and cocktails were delicious and at breakfast the smoothies and omelettes tasted amazing also. Checkout was quick and easy. We asked for a taxi to take us to the airport and as we were a party of 6 with a lot of luggage we wanted a small van which arrived very quickly indeed. The only thing to comment on was that there was no hairdryer in our room that morning but after calling housekeeping it arrived in minutes... so not a problem at all!

We decided to visit the Lake Geneva region for a week and spend the first couple of nights in Geneva before heading east. We have known the MO Group and stayed at others of their hotels in the past. We stayed in a Deluxe River View Room. Although the interiors are in the usual MO style, they appear so old and run down. These types of hotel rooms are in need of a full renovation. The bathroom is so old and out of date. Although clean, there was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom. Lights are bad and the TV and its quality is a joke in today's world. I would have expected more from a hotel like this. Also, there was no turn down services in the evening although we left our hotel room well before 7pm. The room itself was a real disappointment to us. I was inclined to give a one point review which I never have reason to do, but the staff at reception was very friendly, so they make up for the second point.
