The lady on the reception is one of the most unfriendly person i ve ever met . She will be constantly checking on you, we felt we are in prison not hotel. On top of that lady is NOT LGBTQ friendly Hotel is very old school, you can get far more better service in different hotel for same money in Bern.
I’m indebted to Frau Magdalena of the reception. She was tremendously helpful during my stay and made my trip in Bern a success! This is the kind of service you want to have when traveling! The hotel is very central, in the middle of everything. I would definitely recommend this place.
Room was very good but be aware the single rooms can be very small so order a double if you want some space. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable, the hotel is central easy to walk in the city and good value for Berne. It's close to the main rail station. Did not eat in hotel apart from breakfast which had a decent selection and great coffee to start the day.
We stayed with 4 nights along with other family. Three rooms total. The staff was wonderful, the restaurant was convenient with really good food. The rooms are small - very small. We had a small balcony which was nice. The bathroom is tiny as well. The biggest issue we had was there was no surface space for anything. We had our suitcases on the floor to live out of for 4 days, pretty inconvenient. Great location, convenient to train station and the hotel offers bus passes for convenience. That was really nice. Would recommend a stay there.
Reception is on 2nd floor. Weird! We were in room 102. Watch out for the step once inside the room. Not once could we manage the lock by ourselves. Each and every time we got help from reception to lock up or let us back into the room. Very noisy as we had a corner room on the 2nd floor of a busy street. Breakfast was not adequate. Girl is run off her feet by all the tasks she has. Cold plate meats ran out, but she did not replenish tray until a manager gave her the OK! There were more trays in the fridge! (He was more concerned to take his shirts to the cleaners). Not her fault! She also had to fix the coffee machine as it clogged, clean tables, take down room numbers, boil eggs AND get money from anyone not staying at the hotel for a croissant 1.75sch.
