The East-West hotel is a small but pretty hotel. Its timber floors in honey hues make the place immediately welcoming. There is no doubt that money went into doing up the place which is perched on the banks of the Rhine and enjoys glorious views of the town and its lovely stone bridges. The breakfast is smaller in scope and...

A small hotel with a charm of an old Swiss house in an excellent location overlooking the Rhine, within walking distance from almost all sights! Staff was very helpful, the room was warm and clean. You also get a free transit card when you check in. Breakfast was adequate. We had a room overlooking the street where bars and pubs...

Stayed for two nights in December location was excellent for all the sights within easy walking distance also right near river bridge, the staff were helpful but not overly enthusiastic. The room was warm and clean but all fittings are very basic didn't use the restaurant so can't comment,no night porter on duty which I found strange for the size of...

I enjoyed it, overall a good value, well located and had the charm of an old Swiss house. The room was clean and well furnished. Good transport links or walking distance from most places as it's very central.

We sat in the big benches facing the river which is a very nice view. But the service was ridicously slow and a bit rude for how long we have been waiting and at the end you have some Tarte flambée or flammekueche which was COLD and really nothing special. So those views doesnt worth that time and money basically.

This hotel is great value for its location, service and amenities. Switzerland is pricey, so finding this hotel with its river view rooms(worth the extra)is a treat. Nice size rooms as well. Walking distance from both train stations, and a free transit card when you book a room. The windows of the room open, so you can hear the Rhine...

I sat on one of the big wooden benches outside beside the Rheine with a view out to the old town. With the Autumn leaves it was a very pretty spot. Lunch was very tasty. I had a pulled pork burger which was delicious. Price was very reasonable (for Swiss standards) at about CHF 30 for beer and lunch.

Friendly welcome at reception and a very nice room. Lovely architectural features all across the hotel. Rooms are good size and have a very interesting concept of an integrated bathroom with see-through wall. If you want a quiet night I'd recommend opting for a room towards the riverside as the alleyway on the other side seems to be quiet popular...

Hotel is in a great location right on the river front , good rooms and nice view of the city if you have a river front room. Near trams and train station walkable . We went on a Friday and Saturday night , Saturday fine and the usual noise you'd expect from people enjoying themselves , Friday was terrible ,...

Though I arrived late, I was greeted by a polite and friendly night porter, she even got me a nice cold beer though the bar was closed. Wish I could speak so highly of the senior barman. The room was small, but comfortable and nicely decorated. The hotel is conveniently located for exploring Basel and only a few yards from...
