For the price we paid, this is a good deal. Unfortunately, there is a set of traffic lights outside the hotel, so the traffic noise can be quite bad as trucks start and stop. If you can keep the windows closed, it is fine, but with no A/C , I really need an open window!

The hotel is about ten minutes by tram away from the Basel SSB station, which I feared would be a bit problematic. However, this is Switzerland, where the public transport system is so good that the location of the hotel was more an advantage than a disadvantage (not to forget, you get free public transport included in your stay)! It...

We stayed at Hotel Balegra for two nights before a river cruise. Great local atmosphere, very personable staff. The small lift saved lugging heavy luggage up the stairs. A two-block walk from the tram, it's easy to get to everywhere you want to go in Basel. The room was quiet with modern appointments. No clock but we had our smart...

I spent here 5 nights during a business trip as usual in Basel all in the city center were full. General impression is like a small pension as the reception will not be available during the night. I asked for the superior room which was good in size. It´s not news that the rooms are small in Europe. I read...

Having stayed here on numerous occasions over the past three years I have always found this hotel to be a great base to work from. You get a complimentary travel voucher and the tram and bus service are frequent so you are only 10 minutes from the centre. The hotel is always clean, the staff are always really pleasant and...

This hotel is complete rip off - the room was very small, very basic and I even found a beer can lurking underneath my bed. The breakfast is pitiful, again very basic and plastic. But what was most shocking was the way that the hotel owner was happy to charge us nearly 100 CHF more for our stay than what...

Dear guest Your review for the hotel Balegra must be a misunderstanding. We have never used plastic utensils and your comments do not match the standardization of our house .. Also your photo, I can not remember ever having seen us. I wish you good time and maybe look again after what hotel you really were. Thank you.

Visited Basel for work during mid June. What can I say? Staff is nice, friendly, nice complimentary breakfast. Rooms, small. Shower, really small, and some rooms don't even have shower. If you go Basel for the art fair, do not stay here, it is rather far from center. Good thing is tram will take you anywhere in little to no...

This review is about the public RESTAURANT at this place, not the hotel rooms, as we went there to eat, not to spend the night. The food at the restaurant was good, absolutely no complaints, with decent portions. I had a pizza, which had a very thin, very crusty bottom and ample toppings, and my husband enjoyed his veal steak...
