The hotel was located across from the train station and close to the historic part of the city. The rooms were well appointed with complimentary mini-bar, robes and even slippers. The free breakfast was outstanding with a great variety of hot and cold items and was served in the beautiful dining room. The true highlight was the staff. They went... More

We were a group of 20 spending a few days in Basel before our Rhein cruise. This hotel was chosen by our travel agent. Located by the train and tram stations, you could catch a tram to anywhere in the city. The staff were friendly and very accomodating. The breakfasts buffet was very good. We were given a bus pass... The Gaia Hotel is very clean, the staff are friendly and they give you a free bus pass to use during your stay. Being located right across the street from the central train station is very handy and getting to and from the airport is only a short (and free) bus ride. The room was a bit small, but not... More

I arrived late at night after a long trip. The check-in procedure was convenient and staff was very friendly. A nice touch was the complementary mini-bar. My room was compact but had all it needs. WIFI working well. Breakfast was really good (usually is in Switzerland), but it was the staff that made it an excellent start of the day.... More

Room was nice and clean, staff were amazingly friendly and the breakfast was very appetizing. Overall a good stay and would definitely come back. The style is a bit quaint and is in an old style which is not my taste but I did not mind too much

I could tell from reading other reviews that I would probably enjoy the Gaia. That turned out to be an understatement: I loved this hotel! The staff is professional and helpful. The location is perfect. (Across the street from the train station and half a block from many trams. The hotel provides a pass for the latter.) The breakfast buffet... More

The location of this hotel is perfect--easy access to the train and the trams. The hotel offers a free travel pass for trams and buses so you can get... More

From the start of our 3 day stay to the very last hours, The Gaia was a wonderfully friendly and comfortable place to stay. Our breakfasts which are free with the room included anything anyone could want and were delicious. The whole hotel is beautiful and bright with golden yellows and white throughout and wide, beautifully carpeted staircases. The travel... More
