La Cuccagna is a wonderful place to stay. The photos on the website look amazing but the reality is even better. This is particularly true of the fabulous sunset that fades behind the rolling hills that make up the view from the veranda. Sarah & Sal were extremely welcoming hosts who provided excellent recommendations on what to see & do,...

Had high expectations of our first foreign trip away with our little girl and La Cuccagna certainly didn't disappoint. We really enjoyed our week in La Stalleta (the self-catered apartment) enjoying heatwave June weather and taking dips in infinity pool which had a stunning panorama of the rolling Umbria countryside. Our previous water-shy toddler daughter became a little fish for...

Sarah and I had a very pleasant stay in La Cuccagna. From our welcome to us leaving it felt very personal. We indeed left thinking of when we could come back!

Recently my husband and I spent two nights with friends at La Cuccagna, the charming inn/bed and breakfast outside Gubbio that is owned and run by Salvatore and Sarah. It is gorgeous, quite rustic (which we prefer) with big shady bedrooms and a common breakfast area. We had wonderful hikes around the hills, enjoyed our pizza evening, and practiced yoga...

My new husband and I stayed during the time another reviewer, Gidgea also stayed. What fun we all had. As the other review says, the location was breathtaking, Sal and Sara were so accommodating, and Pizza night was one of our most memorable evenings ever! My only regret is that it was still a little too early in the season...

La Cuccagna is on top of a ridge with great views of the surrounding Umbrian hills with easy access to Perugia and Gubbio. It is a bit of a drive up the hill but Salavatore gave us a very warm welcome and arranged for a meal at the local restaurant (5 minutes away). We had a really relaxing 4 nights...

The more we recommend it, the less availability there will be for our return trip! :-( Everything fellow commentators have said we wholeheartedly agree with. It's really lovely. BUT DON'T BOOK. It might be the same week that we want. :-)

Set atop an Umbrian hill with Perugia's towers and lights in the distance, La Cuccagna is a perfect Italian retreat. Sal & Sarah (She is English, he speaks it fluently) are most gracious folks. There is a "stalleto" for self-catering. But the main portion features four rooms around a central kitchen/and dining area where breakfast is served. WiFi. Nice bathroom...

One thing the lovely pictures of La Cuccagna can't portray enough is just how amazing the location is. This nicely refurbished B&B is perched on the top of a lovely hill overlooking the Umbrian countryside, and it is absolutely breathtaking. Sarah & Salvatore are delightful hosts, and made us feel very comfortable and looked after, with excellent tourist information about...

If you are thinking of staying in Umbria, this is the place to stay. We are travelling more slowly than most, and were fortunate to stay for 15 nights at La Cuccagna, 6 nights in the B&B section, and 9 in the self catered cottage. Whether you are able to stay one night, a few, or many, this offers everything...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Cuccagna offers boutique style B&B and self-catering accommodation, finished with the highest quality luxury linens, plush towels, fluffy bathrobes and organic artisan toiletries. Our rooms are rustic and simple in harmony with the natural surroundings. Furnishings are mostly handmade locally in the original style of an Umbrian farmhouse and we have used local artists, ceramics and textiles in the finishing touches. Our hilltop position offers peace and tranquillity with stunning, unspoilt views over the hills and valleys. Our horizon pool has an infinity edge that drops off into the rolling Umbrian countryside with views that stretch into neighbouring Tuscany. We are an English / Italian couple who decided to find a little piece of paradise in Umbria and open our home to offer guests a unique and authentic experience. Our guests receive a warm welcome and we pride ourselves in ensuring that they receive the highest level of personal hospitality and enjoy the most relaxing stay possible. We love the Umbrian way of life and all it has to offer and it gives us great pleasure to help our guests enjoy the very best stay in our stunning surroundings. ... more   less
