Borgo di Carpiano was an amazing place for a family reunion -- we had 9 family members aged 1 to 66 in our party and each one of us had a fantastic experience at the Borgo. Marilisa and Ricardo Parisi are fabulous hosts. Marilisa speaks great English, is incredibly hospitable and accommodating, and can provide plenty of information about sightseeing...

Our family of 9 (6 adults, 3 children under 7 years old) spent four days at this charming venue in the Umbrian hills. The nearest town of any size is Gubbio, about 12 km away. The Borgo di Carpiano, formerly a beautiful old 17th century stone church, has only 7 rooms, each with a private bathroom. It is set in...

This small, intimate inn that was an original 17th century church has been painstakingly renovated by a delightful couple (Marilisa and Riccardo) who devote all their energy into making their guests feel at home and pampered. It is an absolutely amazing place where attention to detail is outstanding. It is slightly remote but that adds to the charm of the...

Our hosts were great. They have a great place that has been updated. I highly recommend eating dinner with them. The food was amazing. A great place for that part of Italy and they gave us some great sightseeing tips. The hotel is a little off the main road, but with GPS and directions we found it with no problem.

We spent 5 days at the Borgo with Marilisa and Riccardo. We could not have asked for a more relaxing location both from which to explore the surrounding towns of Gubbio and Assissi and, also, to rest. We enjoyed walking with Harmony (the beautiful dog) around the local wooded valley or just reading, writing and chatting in the exquisite main...

During this first visit, we stayed at Borgo di Carpiano for 8 days in September 2009 and, having known Riccardo Parisi for years, we knew it would be magical. Riccardo, Marilisa, Harmony and Whisky made our holiday relaxing, enjoyable, luxurious and a gorgeous dining experience. There is no question we will return, and with Gianni Lippi, our wonderful taxi driver,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The ancient castle of Carpiano is among the hidden treasures of beautiful Umbria. This small hamlet is located at only 12 Km from the medieval town of Gubbio and 22 km from Perugia. In this pleasant place simplicity, elegance and warmth of genuine hospitality are ideally combined. The Borgo is surrounded by secular olive trees and lush woods in a pristine valley crossed by the Ventia stream. The three stone buildings that comprise it are perched on a spur of rock that ends with an infinity pool of salt water overlooking the valley. In the main building, the old church has been restored keeping the original frescoes and has been now converted into library and conversation room hosting classical music concerts and events. During the winter months meals are served in the large dining room in front of the warmth of the old fireplace while in the summer are served in the small square with breathtaking view over the valley.Home made bread, cakes and biscuits, vegetables from the vegetable garden and a search of quality ingredients, all strictly "seasoned with our own olive oil" ....The Borgo has only eight rooms all renovated respecting the original architecture and materials of the time. Get lost in the woods, plan to do very little, get accustomed to the silence are recommended activities!Borgo di Carpiano is also an ideal setting for an exclusive place to celebrate with your friends a special occasion. In house wine, cheese and olive oil tasting, cooking classes, therapeutic treatments and relaxing massages can be arranged. Horse riding, golf, rafting can be found in the nearby surroundings. The Borgo is in a strategic position to visit all the major Umbrian towns. ... more   less
