Albergo Bernini has a great location, the proprietor is easy to communicate with, and the beds are comfortable. Stayed in one of the rooms with a private bathroom. The accomodations are not fancy (it's in an older building), but has everything one needs. There is a terrace with tables where you can enjoy the view of the Duomo and the Basilica Cateriniana San Domenico while having a bottle of wine and something to eat.

We slept in this hotel during a tourist weekend in Siena and were thrilled.
The property is located in a period building, the (family) room assigned to us is spacious, bright and very comfortable while having the bathroom shared with another room (there is still a small working sink for small needs).
The staff is friendly and very helpful.
Points in favor of the hotel are also the proximity to the city center (5 minutes walk - 400 meters), the train stop (25 minutes walk - 1.5 km) but above all the beautiful panorama of Siena that can be enjoyed from their terrace... just a terrace with a view!
The price is good.

Really good stay, the lady in charge is friendly and helpful, keen to make our stay smooth and enjoyable. Hotel is basic, as you would expect, but clean and comfortable. Best part is the rooftop terrace, with superb views of the city. We were invited to bring takeaway food back so we had breakfast and dinner in an awesome setting 😎

We had booked a single overnight stay here 30 years ago during our backpacking honeymoon, and loved the amazing terrace so much that we then stayed two more days! Returned here again this September after all these years on an anniversary trip and loved it just as much. Very convenient location, comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and the truly wonderful views make Albergo Bernini a fantastic choice if you are looking for a small pensione in Siena.

If I really have to strike a negative note I found some small insects in the bathroom but nothing that can not happen even in your own home

This hotel offers the best view of this enchanting town : the terrace of the Albergo Bernini is wonderful and having breakfast there is the best way to start your day. If you don't believe me, check their website ! --- The family that runs it is gracious and warm and gives very good advice on Siena & the surroundings. Be sure to ask for a big room as the sizes are different, but I have stayed there twice and all the rooms are very nice and clean. It is a very good deal as it is hard to find cheap hotels in the heart of the town. I strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to travel to Siena !

We stayed at the Bernini late September 2004. A great location, you can walk there from where the Sita (Citta) bus lets you off in town. If you are coming from Florence, be sure to take this bus versus the train, as the train station is outside the Siena wall and not nearly as convenient.

The hosts are friendly, very helpful and gracious. Although we shared a bathroom, we had a sink in our room and it was not a problem at all. The room was clean and cosy. They have a wonderful terrace in the back with a great view of the Duomo. Be sure to ask about the dinners they prepare each evening. After exploring all day, it was nice to have a relaxing good meal and not have to leave the hotel! We would definitely stay there again!

First, this is a family run place and the atmosphere is truly friendly. The view from the terrace and sitting area is spectacular. Our room was simple, clean and perfectly acceptable. However, our private bathroom was not up to par. Although acceptably clean, there was a persistent sewer like odor coming from a toilet bowl that barely flushed. The odor caused us to leave after two nights. The shower was in the open in the bathroom with just a curtain. Although common in budget hotels, it is not a set up that I like. Note that credit cards are not accepted and there is a midnight curfew.

It is moderately cheap for a reason. The hotel and rooms have not been updated or cleaned for years. Upon arriving (no prior notification), you are informed of a Midnight curfew and that they do not take credit cards. They will help with directions and give you a map but they want it back. They offer breakfast for a charge and have no Internet. The only positive was the view from the deck but you have to go through the family's dining room to get to it (and they are in there eating and surfing the Internet that you are not allowed to use!). We really liked Siena but I would avoid this hotel due to dirty and outdated conditions and lack of services.
