Although the building is beautiful and we were very pleased with our double ensuite room, we cannot give high marks to an accommodation in which we saw absolutely appalling behavior from a member of the staff, behavior which included refusing to return passports to guests (including us) and behaving very cruelly towards a young, solo, female traveler. We watched as...

My husband and I don't usually stay at hostels, but we were only in Lucca for one night and wanted a cheaper alternative. We booked a private double room, and we ended up with a quad all to ourselves. There were two beds downstairs and two beds upstairs in a loft. Unfortunately, all the beds were singles, but we didn't...

This is not a hotel - it is a hostel. The building it occupies is huge and grand - I was told it used to be an old monastery. We got a double room (not dorms) and it was a huge family room on two levels. Spacious and clean, good value for 50euros. Location is brilliant. Could not be closer...

The San Frediano is in a perfect spot in Lucca...close to the walls where you can enjoy a stroll; close to the main shopping street...via Fullingo; close to the best pizza we had while in Italy......it's right across the street. Sammy, at the front desk, is very helpful and friendly. There is also an internet point in the lobby where...

We didn't book before our arrival, so, unfortunately, all 2-bed rooms were occupied. But the staff was very cooperative: they gave us a bigger one at the price of a 2-bed-room. The room itself was simple but perfectly clean! Absolutely no bug-alarm! Furthermore, there was no problem to store our luggage in a special room on our last day, so...

Lucca was an unbelievable city and I would highly recommend anyone thinking of going to go. this hostel, while very cool looking on the outside was probably the worst of my trip. The people were friendly but the place as a whole was a bit off I guess in the interest of conservation they did not put the heat on...

This hostel is like a small palace, and in fact a former convent. It is palatial in space and in decor, very clean, very friendly staff, and a fantastic location for experiencing Lucca. I cannot recommend this hostel enough, although I don't want to spoil the secret!

My friend and I stayed here one night in April 2007. We booked a double room with a bath for only 48 euro. The room was huge - the double bed and bath in an upstairs loft and a single bed downstairs. It was much roomier than we had anticipated. The decor is strangely spartan and yet 60's trippy (see...

A HUGE step above an ordinary Hostel! It was huge! Beautiful! Large common areas that are classier than most hotels! They were VERY nice! It is in a great location. Cant beat the price!! The place was practically empty, as it was a weeknight, just off-season, and it was really peaceful and quiet. Especially for a Hostel!! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
