The location is in the middle of the old city with its typical squar. It's really as the time stood still. Unfortunately so did modern technology, wifi, aircond and breakfast options. The room was in deperate need of refurbishing, Very hot room already in June. Ignorant brekfast staff. Aircond almost non existing. WIFI almost not working. Breakfast really a low...

Relaxing atmosphere, very helpful staff, room was very comfortable and clean (towels and bed linen changed more often than most hotels). We stayed for 7 days in October and found Lucca to be ideally situated for exploring the area. Good rail links to Pisa and Florence for example. The town itself is full of history and impressive buildings. Two must...

Excellent location, clean & friendly staff. It is 3 star so luxuries not offered. Plenty of restaurants nearby would suggest rather then the hotel restaurant. We were at the end of the season so not many tourists. Lucca a must to see.

Hotel Universo stands within the old city of Lucca, just in front of the theater, 5 minutes from the Cathedral, and even less from the shopping area of the city. Located in an old building, it has a lot of potential to become a luxury hotel. The entrance hall has kept its stucco, the rooms are large with high windows....

Our Visit to Lucca in early October with a late taste of Summer was brilliant a fascinating place full of History and a Rustic Charm of its own, A chance to see a living Italian Town not spoilt by the Tourism Charade of some places. The Hotel Universo is in an ideal spot to make the most of your stay...

A very traditional style hotel. The staff are not the friendliest or very helpfull here. It is in a reasonable location and easy to find upon arrival from the train station. I would recommend hiring bikes which are nearby and can be rented for 3€ per hour. There is no wifi in the rooms and very little in the lobby.

The location is very good as it is a short walk from the train station with luggage etc. The staff I encountered were all pleasant and friendly, but they must receive complaints as a result of the state of the hotel, which is in serious need of renovation and updating. My room was large, the sheets were clean, but everything...

Last time I visited Lucca I chose to stay just outside the walls in a villa. This time I chose the centrally situated Universo. We arrived at 13:00 to be told no check-in until 14:00. On check-in we were advised that the advertised Wi-Fi only worked in the lobby. At breakfast I asked for alternative to grapefruit juice. I was...

Beautiful historic building in a great location. Ideally located within the walls of Lucca and within walking distance of the train station (10 min.) Charming past glory, but the hotel was in urgent use of a a facelift.. Room and bathroom clean but with tight shower, breakfast very basic, staff not very helpful or friendly.

Hotel is ideally located in the heart of the old town, very nice outside and inside-main hall with reception, but you have to bear in mind that this is a very old building not renovated for a long time what is easy to see. Air conditioning in the rooms but not in the corridors, on hot days it can be...
