Hands down a fabulous hostel for anyone travelling solo. Facilities were clean, tidy and comfortable. The girls only apartment is very nice! Great hostel to meet people and spend the evenings wining and dining with company. Staff were lovely also! Would highly recommend.

I only had one night here and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The room was clean and cool, with a good bathroom (soap dispensers in all the right places). The provided breakfast was delicious with real coffee and juices. I would definitely return here.

It was the first time I'd stayed in a hostel and it was a great experience. I slept in a 6 bed female dorm, all beds had lockers, lights and sockets. Room-mates respected night silence and there was also no noise from the outside. I slept like a baby. The hostel has nice decor, vivid colors, very clean. Food in...

This hostel felt almost like staying at a hotel minus the sharing of the bedrooms and bathrooms of course. The staff was nice and helpful. There was ALWAYS some sort of free dish/food in the kitchen. They have a coffee and juice machine. By far the best breakfast offered at any of the hostels we stayed at. The bathrooms are...

We've stayed for two nights and this is one of the best hostels I've ever been to. The hostel is clean and neat, our sheets and towels were replaced daily, the showers and toilet were cleaned each and every day, food and drinks are available complimentary of the house. I couldn't recommend this place enough, I'll definitely revisit.

Felt very safe and at home here, ended up extending my stay to 7 nights! Great location, walking distance from anywhere you would want to be. 24hr snacks in the common area were a real bonus as florence can be expensive, so replaced a few meals out with kitchen snacks which were pretty good! Only flaw was the social area...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.

“Our room (room 1) was literally right outside of the breakfast/common room and lobby. It was pretty noisy all of the time, with people checking in/out, people hanging out the common room late at night and then others up early eating breakfast the next morning. It wasn't a huge deal (it's a hostel), but light sleepers or families may want to see if they can request a room further away.”
