Leonardo House was absolutely perfect for a short trip to Florence. It was an easy walk from the train station and easy to find too. Leonardo helped us get checked in and was very flexible regarding arrival times (We were coming from venice and didn't know exactly when we would arrive until the day of). The rooms are extremely spacious...

I added photos as the last negative reviewer was accused of lying. There was a nasty bug problem in the bathroom (shared between 3 double rooms, so we waited an hour yesterday morning to brush our teeth and shower) The doors have signs on to tell guests to shut slowly because they are SO LOUD. It's not the guests it's...

Hello dear guest, it was Eastern and very happy to host you in best way. Your first request to change the room was immediately accepted because you were complaining about loud door. No body in 12 years didn't complain about loud door, I am first to guaranty calm and sweet sleep as I stay in the same building. After that...

My friend and I stayed at Leonardo House during our backpacking interrail trip. We stayed in a double room and paid a reasonable price considering the location and how expensive Florence/Italy can be. I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was spacious, clean and had very comfortable beds. I'm surprised by the number of negative comments about Leonardo himself-...

Very clean, comfortable and quiet. Also close to the train station and Dumo. I would highly recommend it, especially for people not needing a kitchen to cook or couples/families. The host is wonderful and really helpful and kind.

I've stayed at a lot of hostels and B&B types, and the one thing that always stands out to me is how attentive the hosts are to making sure that you are comfortable, having a good time, and getting the most out of the experience. This was the exact opposite. Leonardo was not at all helpful with our scheduling issues...

We had no dramas at all staying at Leonardo House. The hostel as a whole is pretty basic, so the bedrooms and bathrooms (shared) are quite simple. But they were very well kept and clean which made them enjoyable to use. Leonardo was a great host and gave us a map with all of the 'must see' areas on it...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
