We stayed at La Residenza in March 2008. Words cannot describe how much I adored this hotel!! After our tiny room in Rome, I felt like I could run laps in this giant suite. I think I actually gasped when we walked in!! The room was HUGE with a sitting area, closet for clothes, and big king sized bed. The...

My husband and I stayed here in Sept 07. The central location was fantastic. We walked from the train station, which took about 30 mins - but don't be put off, I was dawdling as I admired the amazing shops, architecture, pizza etc. We could walk everywhere from here, come back for a short rest before heading out again. Robert...

I booked this hotel for our Honeymoon and we had a 2 night stay. The location is fantastic and the staff are very friendly. We paid for a deluxe room which is well worth the money as the room we had ovelooked the Duomo. Breakfast is served in you room which is fine. It is not the finest hotel but...

I booked directly with the property and Roberto (the owner) was always available beforehand for my questions and advice on Florence. Before arriving, we changed dates and then later changed rooms when we learned that the Brunelleschi room has a small balcony. Both times, they were very accommodating, quick to respond, and friendly in doing so. Upon arrival, Roberto greeted...

I am baffled as to how the Residenza del Proconsolo has received such positive reviews on this site. Those reviews led me to booking a stay at this B&B, a decision I regretted the moment I got there. We were staying only one night, which may have been part of the problem. I think the owner put us in the...

We stayed here in early July 2007. We are pretty selective when it comes to hotels/B&Bs and would stay here again in a heart-beat. Roberto and Lorna could not have been kinder. Our room with a view of the Duomo was amazing, which made the stay in Florence very special. Other members of our party were upgraded to a bigger...

This B&B is in an excellent location, just 10 steps from the back of the Duomo, and a 10-minute walk from everything else. The room was large and very nicely decorated. There is good air-conditioning and is quiet (except for the nightly street cleaner). You can get a view of the Duomo and Dome. There is a shower and bathtub...

First off, calling this place a B&B is a little misleading. Yes, it's small, but it lakes the personal touches. That being said, we were not expecting any of this, so we were not disapointed. Guests should expect service similar to the small hotels that dot cities across Europe. The location is great, right around the corner from the Duomo,...

Small, well managed, clean B&B in 15th century building right behind the Duomo. Very lovely, helpful, unassuming hosts. Leonardo DaVinci Room had 15- 20 foot woodbeamed ceilings, 4 poster (a little rickety),bed with additional single bed for our teenage son, non working fireplace, tile floors, italian ceramic tile bathroom with jacuzzi, and view of Duomo. Simple but just fine breakfast...

This is our time in Florence. I can't stress enough about what a great location this hotel is in. You are minutes from the Duomo and great eateries in nearby areas with reasonable prices. We had the Brunelleschi room with a small terrace so you can see the Duomo out your window. The window was double pane so it blocked...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
