This was a strictly ok hotel stay. The rooms were very basic with just white walls and 3 single beds. The TV was smaller than a desktop monitor and very small bathroom. We were looking for hotels with European charm and this had nothing going for it. The AC was not working on first day and it was 76 degrees...

Good place at a walking distance from central Florence (20 minutes walk). Quiet hotel and with not much to see in the surrounding. Very good service and staff always available for help. Enjoy and relax in a convenient hotel.

During my last visit in Florence I stayed at Leonardo Da Vinci Hotel and enjoyed the accommodation. The hotel is close to city center (walking distance) and the staff is very helpful: they helped us to find a restaurant for the dinner, recommending us a great place! Good breakfast: we had a classic Italian breakfast and enjoyed it so much!...

October 10-12, 2015. We booked this as a surprise deal through Hot Wire as a four star rating hotel. We booked this not only for ourselves, but for two other couples travelling to Italy with us. We were totally appalled and I will never do that again, if anything this was a two star hotel. The room was so small...

Great place for a hotel, 5-10 min walk from Santa Maria Novella station. Very clean, modern hotel. Only downside was wifi that didn't work so well in our room. You have to go to the lobby to have decent wifi.

Breakfast decent, wifi worked well, ac worked well, staff helpful, comfortable rooms, good shower... Not luxury, but anything important was got right. Even kept two demanding teenage girls happy. Unbelievably clean.

We had planned to stay 3 nights in Florence but after seeing our room we decided to stay one night only. Although we found the staff pleasant our room was very ordinary and over priced. I asked for a tea bag at breakfast and the waiter told me they had run out!

Here's what you get for an overpriced hotel room for 2 parents and 2 20 year old girls... 1.Dismissive & slow service. 2. No shampoo/lotion and only two towels for 4 people. 3.The shower is in the middle of the room, so be prepared and hopefully comfortable being naked with all the people you travel with. 4. The trains come...

Very nice hotel, room was spacious. Was very quite considering our room was facing the street. Nice updates on the bathroom. Air conditioner worked, the first one in 3 hotels we had been to in Italy during this trip. Breakfast was abundant, rolls, cookies, croissant, jams, cheese, various meets, yogurt, coffee machine so you can make your own, juice, cereals....

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
