This is a good hotel but there are certain issues I can. We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. The hotel is really easy to find and is about 10 Euro from the train station. It is about 20 minute walk from the centre of Florence. The hotel staff are nice and helpful. I did ask for a quiet...

Dear Guest, first of all, we thank you for your comment. It is always interesting knowing the reviews of our guests. What you complained about the noise seems strange to us, as room 83 isn't either near to any storage or cleaner's room. There are only two rooms after room 83 and their guests pass, through the corridor, in front...

We stayed only one night as we were passing through Florence to Venice. The staff was friendly and helpful, the service excellent, the rooms very nice. We were happily surprised to have a balcony off the room. The true value of the hotel was made evident to us when my husband realized he was having a recurrence of a medical...

So wanted to give this hotel a 5 star rating I will start with the positives I note from some of the other reviews that there were moans about the distance from the centre of Florence and the price of taxis Sure it is not in the centre, but it a slow 12 minute walk into Florence centre and there...

Stayed here for two nights and found it a perfect place from which to explore Florence. The main sights are an easy 40 minute walk away, and the despite being in a busy part of town the hotel is quiet, calm and well appointed. Our room was very well appointed, large with a big bathroom and nice balcony and all...

We found this hotel to provide us with everything we needed for our city holiday. We stayed here for six nights and felt comfortably catered for. The room was of ample size although the view of the offices was a little dissapointing (just a minor detail really). If you are looking for a Hotel with beautiful views this is not...

This hotel was absolutely perfect for us. We stayed 3 nights and found it to be within walking distance of all the sights we wished to see. Our room was a good size and our private terrace off the room was huge! Breakfast was excellent and staff very helpful. The bartender, Ezzat, was superb! I would highly recommend this hotel...

To be fair, the hotel was lovely; the staff was friendly and did gave some good suggestions on restaurants that were closer into the city center. The breakfast was great; lots of good choices available, and again, the waitstaff in the breakfast room were very nice. The downsides that we found was a) no free Wifi (not the biggest issue...

This is a wonderful place to stay when in Florence. It is beautiful, immaculate, and spacious. The walk is an easy 15-20 min into the city center and we had a grandmother and 2 kids with us. Unless you simply have to be in the center of town, I would highly recommend San Gallo Palace hotel. I travel a lot...

We found this to be a good hotel. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The hotel everywhere was very clean. The staff were universally pleasant and helpful. The breakfast area was particularly pleasant. The only downside is the location. It is about a 20 - 30 minute walk into the centre of Florence (although this was more of an...

Easy to reach by taxi and walking, though 20 minutes by foot seemed alot on a hot summers day with luggage. We took the taxi when we left the hotel. Hotel receptionist told us a taxi would cost 10 euros and it cost almost 13 euros to the main train station. The room was spacious with all amenities so was...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
