After arriving from Rome mid morning, our room wasn't ready so we walked around the city. There are so many places of interest within walking distance of the hotel. In just 3 hours we hit almost every church, market, museum and bridge. The hotel itself is just Ok as the shower is way too small and the room rather compact.... More

It has a good location and a good breakfast, but the rooms could be better. They look dirty and the sheets have stains on them. The rooms are a bit small too. It is a 3 minute walk to the river and another 15 minutes to Ponte Vecchio.

So we worried a bit when we found a hotel in the middle of Florence, in August, that we could afford. I worried even more as I followed the instructions of my Sat Nav into ever tightening cobbled streets. The hotel, with its huge marble sculpture in the lobby, did nothing to assuage our fear that booking.com had the prices... More

We were booked into this hotel by 'low cost holidays' who went bankrupt. We found this out a week before we were due to travel. I emailed the hotel to find out what was happening and make some room arrangements and they didn't even bother to reply. The agent we booked through contacted them and were told the room had... I really enjoyed my time in Florence in August 2016, which is also due to Palazzo Ognissanti. My single room could have been a bit bigger, but the bed was ok as was the balcony (which exceeded the room in size). Though I am not a big breakfast eater, I really grew to like their rich buffet. The only thing... More

Stayed in July with my husband and daughter. Our triple room is on the 4th floor, I was expecting the room to be hot but it was nice and pleasant. Very clean, bedding and room itself needs updating. Breakfast is good lots of cereals cold cuts bread cheese and fruits. Coffee was excellent. Reception was very friendly and profesional, we... More

I stayed here for 14 nights in the second two weeks of July. Firstly I flew into Pisa and took the Autostradale coach from the airport, which takes about an hour and drops you off at Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence. The hotel is literally a five minute walk from there. I was travelling alone and my room... More

Stayed fours days, and it has been a wonderful experience, clean, centrally located, and well kept. Our room was nice size, and bathroom very nice. Shower is small but this is most common in Europe, so no issues. A short walking distance to the train station to the north, and the river and walk to Ponte Vecchio to the south.... More

centrally located. not very new but amenities are good and quite comfortable. stayed in a triple room - 1 queen bed, 1 single bed and sofa bed which is quite spacious. best part is the breakfast. i mean, what a spread. all sorts of bread, cold cuts, bacon, scrambled eggs, fresh salads - olives, tomatoes, etc, different kinds of juices,... This hotel is certainly not a 4 star. Rooms are tiny. The shower is ridiculously small. Everything is cramped. Website makes it look great. Breakfast is not really breakfast. Pastry and coffee...no thanks. Will not recommend this place to anyone

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
