I can't say enough about this B&B. The location is fantastic, you can see the Duomo from this building. There are restaurants, shops, laundromats, grocery stores all within walking distance. The Gallery that holds The David is a block away as well. The entrance is locked and the street was quiet so we always felt safe. Check-in was simple and...

Visiting our daughter during her semester abroad, we were fortunate to find this quaint B&B on the same street as her apartment. Albena allowed her to visit and pick out our room prior to our arrival, even provided her with an extra set of keys. Room was quiet with a beautiful view of a rose tree and small garden. Hot...

The B&B is in a building and both their floor and the building is very noisy. The owners are quite intrusive. Absolutely no privacy. We were asked to change rooms half way through our 7 day stay to accommodate an over booking on their part. The owner complained about the work she had to do to clean rooms. We asked...

Our respect for Italian B&Bs was driven a great notch thanks mainly to the gracious and warm hosts Albena and Walter. Be it in terms of our orientation to Florence by Walter or the Sumptous breakfast so caringly prepared by Albena- we almost felt we visited family. The place is conveniently located 300 m from Accademia and about 700-800 metres...

Being someone who looks for hotels when going on holiday, I felt like I took a big risk when initially booking a B&B...never felt so happy to win a gamble. Albania treated us so well and my kids loved her smile and hospitality. Breakfast was great, and facilities matched hotel standards. Location is a short walk to the main attractions....

The stay at Soggiorno Panerai was beyond wonderful! I originally thought I booked the B&B however when I arrived Walter told me that I had actually booked the apartment. Initially I was very upset about this but after seeing the place I realized it was a better option. The apartment was beautifully kept. It is literally a 2 min walk...

I am reluctant to write a review for this B n B due to the fact that it may become so popular that I will be unable to book for a return visit. AND return I will! The space was amazing, the ceiling very decorative. Beds comfortable. Small kitchenette and most of all the best bathroom of my European trip!...

I stayed at Soggiorno Panerai for one night during the Christmas holiday. I was sick with a respiratory cold. Albena let me come in and lay down early to rest so I could enjoy Florence in the afternoon. She provided the motherly touches so I could be well enough to vacation. The blood orange juice in the morning was the...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
