Stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. The location is superb ! The hotel is very basic but you know about it when you book it, so you know what to expect. The rooms were clean but needed decorating. The room did not have a nice view to the Duomno, but it had an advantage:it was very quiet! The beds and pillows were very...

Jet a super spot and a lovely little hotel, really good value. Other than a pretty basic breakfast and the need for serious instructions if traveling by car(we ended up driving through duomo squares!) this is great. So central and yet not very noisy

We came Florence without accomodation but after searching a dozen hotels bigallo had a double room free. The cost was 140 euro, which we were'nt too happy about paying, but we must have been upgraded to a suite, and boy was the money worth it! Extremely well cleaned room. Marble bathroom with massive living space and huge opening windows looking...

What a great location: out the front door of the hotel and the left and you could walk right into the Duomo ! Breakfast included: breakfast is simple but enough to get your day started. Rooms: Big enough for two and clean. Very charming. Bathroom separate with shower. No free internet ~ so be prepared to pay. Good place to...

My husband and I stayed here in April 09, room 1406. The hotel is small boutique style hotel that is in need of some detailed cleaning. The bed was lumpy and saggy and the room needed a good dust. The shower was over the bath where the shower screen was not longer enough so water splashed out everywhere. The shower...

This was a fairly last minute booking through hotels.com as our travel plans had to be changed from another location. I chose the hotel for the location, five minutes from all the major sites and seven minutes brisk walk to the main train station. We stayed in room 1308 a twin bedded room with a private bathroom. The website stated...

This small hotel is located just a few steps off the Piazza del Duomo in Florence, walking distance to most of the main attractions of the city. Small clean rooms, nice bath, tiny fridge. We had a corner room with a great view of the Duomo. Walk in one direction to the Uzzizi and the Ponte Vecchio, a different direction...

Small hotel close to the Duomo, in the heart of Florence. Some rooms overlook the Duomo but some don't. Tip avoid room 1409 no view and noise from elevator. Tip Don't expect to sleep on Saturday nights- very noisy outside

I had booked the Hotel Bigallo due to reviews on here. Arrived at hotel and were waiting outside a locked hotel for 30mins. A local trader approached us and told us that the sister hotel was around the corner and to report there and that "this happens all the time". We had booked 2 rooms for 3 nights and on...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
