Travellers' Choice
A charming Hotel with character, where paying attention to your every need, and the desire to make you happy, is not just our work, but our very real pleasure. For us, clients are never just 'numbers', but real people who we want to feel special, because your satisfaction is the greatest gift we could receive. There are many reasons to travel, but that which makes every trip truly special are the emotions that it evokes, which become the souvenir that you carry forever in your heart, not just of the fantastic places you have visited, but also of the people, who in their own small way have contributed to making every moment perfect and unforgettable.

Huge thanks to Sara who was very kind and helped us change rooms after the first night. That made a huge difference! The room we had for the rest of our stay was great! Also we loved the rooftop and the location! Front desk staff was knowledgeable and extremely nice! We would definitely stay there again!

The room was big, quiet and serviceable. The building was old, but then so is everything in Florence! A/C was working. Location was just... perfect! Easy to stop and rest for a bit while sightseeing. I was able to check-in early and I they let me leave my luggage with them after check-out. They arranged a taxi. Good service all around at no extra charge. Wifi signal in the room (n°20) was so weak it was unusable. Pity... Very nice restaurant in the building!

This hotel is absolutely terrible! Where do I start? You need to walk up the stairs to get to the rooms with your luggage, the rooms are small, outdated with dirty walls, far from what they look like in pictures. The AC barely works and it’s super noisy. The only plus is that location.

Dear Mrs. L., Thanks for your review, in the Hotel web site we show all the rooms with a complete description and a lot of photos, it's clearly written that there are stairs and if someone has special request it's enough to communicate it at the moment of the reservation. We are glad that you loved our location. Best regards.

terrible hotel!! Over priced, rooms pictures shown are edited for modernization but not close to what they actually are. A/C doesn’t blow cold air. Imagine being all day walking around in high temperature and coming to your room to rest but finding a warm place as well..it was impossible to have a restful night. Bed mattress are firmer than expected, sheets are rough and thick and pillow thank God I had mine! You have to walk 92 steps to get to the warm lobby or take a lift that fits 1person plus luggage at a time. Shower not what expected of course and the sink you wash your hands/teeth and water spills on the floor because the little furniture were the sink is is so little that water spills. No tissue paper. Bathroom paper super small and by pieces not a roll.

Dear Mr./Mrs. M., Thanks for your review, bad reviews as well can help us to improve next guests' stays, but I'd like to clarify some points that you communicate in a wrong way: - our Hotel is located in a XV cent. palace and thanks God we have a lift (small correct) but we have it, better than climb 97 steps with bags; - rooms: we have 12 rooms category from economy rooms (small but comfortable) to the Luxury Suites, all the rooms are showed in our official web site and online on booking.com/expedia etc... we have some rooms in classic style and some others in modern style, if guests have a preference it's enough to communicate it at the moment of the reservation; - a/c work fine, during your stay we had an unusual hot temperature and with the Hotel fully booked and all the rooms with a7c at the max speed it's possible that the temperature inside the room was not as cool as you desire; - for mattress and sheets we respect your opinion, it's a personal one but we have a lot of guest that love our mattress We understand that our Hotel is particular and it's not a standard hotel, for this reason staying with us you should be ready to love the history and feel it everywhere. Best regards,

• Location : a few meters away from the Ponte Vecchio, perfect to start the day visiting the splendid city of Firenze. • Room : we were given 2 different rooms, one “Comfort” and one “Superior”, both on the street side (which was very noisy). Comfort was really basic, impersonal (and the bathroom was quite outdated), the Superior offered more space and was more welcoming, although there is a serious difference between the pictures available on the website and the reality. • Reception : depending who you’re talking to… Polite and nice welcome when checking-in (and always nice when we discussed by mail for the reservation procedures), but not quite the same story when we mentioned the following problem: we initially booked a “Classic” room for the 3 of us (and asked for a quiet room) and received eventually a Comfort room. We discussed this issue with the receptionist and she started arguing about the size of the different rooms… Fact is that we booked a specific room (and the hotel website is rather well documented, you can easily tell which room belongs to which category, no confusion possible) and there is no reason to get downgraded. So, after a few minutes, the receptionist agreed somewhat reluctantly to change our room and, as the hotel was fully booked, the only room left was a category higher than the “Classic” we reserved. We packed everything and moved to the new room. Our point here was just the following: when the client is right, there is no need to start a discussion and this is one of the reasons why we give only 3 stars. • Breakfast : due to COVID-19, all hotels must comply with sanitary measures, that’s a fact. But honestly, it shouldn’t prevent the guests from being treated with consideration (we had a rude waitress) and receiving a decent catering instead of a meal tray worthy of school canteens (fyi: charge for the breakfast is € 7…). It's fair to say that we expected a bit more from a 3-star hotel... So, we will come back in Firenze, but won’t stay at the Scaletta again.
