I stayed two nights (25-27 Sep. 2020) at the Medici Hotel, which is centrally located, and got severely bitten by bed bugs. Beware -- their bites really itch and hurt for at least a week. I am tempted to post a photo of my back, throat, and face, but won't-

As a part of a birthday gift, I planned a vacation for my younger sister. When she arrived at the Hotel Medici, the front desk staff asked her to wait for 20 minutes. After 30 minutes, she went to the front desk to ask if the room was ready and the man yelled at her saying “IF I TELL YOU TO WAIT YOU WILL WAIT. I CAN MAKE YOU WAIT FOR AN HOUR”. My sister was completely shocked. Then he accused my sister of not paying for the room, which was not true since I paid for the stay in full well in advance. This person blocked her path physically coming so close that my sister felt threatened and yelled at her I had to call the Booking.com customer service staff, who called them to sort out the issue, but the front desk staff blocked her path in a threatening manner and was misogynistic and condescending. When my sister finally got the room there were no blinds or curtains on the windows in both the bedroom and bathroom. People could see her shower or sleep. The man misbehaved several times during her stay. If you are a single woman, please do not stay at this place. You will not feel safe.

The location is great, right around the corner from the Duomo and in the center of all the sights. Let me say first of all the staff was nice, they were kind and helpfull but the hotel and the rooms itself was not so good… The room was quite small and the shower was awfull. The showerhead was stuck to the wall so you can't really clean your whole body. The room had one sided glass, so we were up all night from all of the noises outside. the cleaning car that comes in the night time, it was like it was driving next to my head. And the clocks of the tower made sure you were up early... The pillow was really hard, and the bed also. Like i said the location was good, people were nice. but i would not book here again and i also would not recommend it. Don't even get me started on the breakfast, TERRIBLE. Who serves dry crackers, jam, and 4 old slices of bread and calls it breakfast? Not even an egg, or something to put on the hard bread other then jam... No cheese, belony, salami, nothing! This was very dissapointing. Coffee from the machine was also terrible, not what you would expect from Italy! The city taks that we had to pay in the end was also totally shameless, they had the nerve to ask for €4 per person per night for a crappy 2 star hotel.... Normally its 2 stars €2, 3 stars €3, etc. The only really great thing about this hotel, is the rooftop with amazing view. This alone made my review go from 1 to 2 stars.

Extremely well located. Minimum comfort nothing fancy. A bed , a closed, a desk and bathroom. I found it correct for the price 40€. You will spend more time visiting and eating than in the room. Negative points are only cash and no noice insulation.. so you hear the inside and outside of the hotel. I highly advise earplugs. But, if I come back, I will definitely take it again.

I was hosted in the hotel from 9th to 17th march 2019. It has a supperb location. Just that. The hotel is old, you can hear everything from the outside because the windows are old and the breakfast is very poor. The night before my departure, I wanted to do the check-out and they told me to pay before leaving. The next morning I payed the hotel and the city tax. I asked for a receipt. They said they would send to my email because the printer was out of order. I am wainting until now and I sent many emails asking for the receipts without any answer. I need it for my job. Worse than that, someone stole a beauty item from my room. It had never happened to me anything like that. They said it was impossible but I think, from the reaction of the staff, it was not the first time that happened...
