Like the title says: I came, I saw and I ran away. I've booked another hotel, but they transferred me to this hotel. But once I saw the dirty, filthy room I've turned around and left. I expected a clean hotel room, while the room I was offered looked like a hostel, just 3 beds, window, door and tiny shower.... More

I can't fault the Hotel Medici for the price we paid for a week's stay: the location is unbeatable being just around the corner from Florence's cathedral which is in the heart of the city. Being an older, solidly built hotel there is very little noise from guests coming and going. Breakfast is quite basic but adequate to get the... More

This is a worth a read- just trying to warn fellow travellers. My husband and I were booked by a travel agent and we hadn't looked up this particular hotel prior to arriving in Florence- our first mistake. This was by far THE WORST hotel I've ever stayed in. This is worse than the cheapest backpackers hostel that you could... More

The location of this hotel is perfect !! Its conveniently located at the heart of the city. The breakfast was okay. The room size was very big. However the hotel needs some renovation. It is very close to Duomo Cathedral.

We stayed at this hotel in December 2015 ~ It's a gorgeous hotel! It was by far the best hotel we stayed in in all of Italy. Friendly staff, beautiful accommodations, excellent food ~ I highly recommend!

A fairly basic hotel in a fantastic location with amazing views if you get a room on floor 6. The room is comfortable as a place to sleep but don't expect too many in room facilities beyond a bed and an ensuite bathroom. Breakfast is served on floor 1 every morning and free wifi is also available in the breakfast... More

We stayed at the Medici for 3 days . It's in the very heart of the city so incredibly placed for sight seeing and night life . We were put in apartments a 5 min walk away from the hotel which had aircon which the hotel itself does not . These were nicely fitted out and full of character although... More

This was the first wheelchair-trip, so the firt need was to be close to the interests. So this hotreel is really int he middle of the city, 50 m to the Duomo and in 3-400 m to all places to visit.Of course all by foot, to drive in the pedestrian zone ( ZTL) with preliminary permisiion only, or else You... A great location... could definitely do with an uplift though! However, when in Florence you're there to see the sights and not spend time cooped up inside your hotel room! Breakfast was included but was very simple and the floor definitely needed a good mop as it was sticky! The lady working the breakfast seemed rushed off her feet clearing... More

There is an amazing view of the duomo from the terrace, it's very central, the rooms are quite clean, but apart from that this hotel is appalling. I think we probably had the best room, but the bathroom was tiny and you couldn't have a shower without flooding it. It opened onto the communal balcony which was nice for the... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
