Public areas in this hotel very nice but the room we stayed in was extremely poor. Wallpaper peeling off the walls. skirting boards falling off, holes in wall, bathroom so very small, that only 1 person could be in it at the time, windows opened to very poor area, better to keep them closed...... Not a hotel I would chose...

+ This hotel is in a very nice and quiet area close to the center, just next to the river Arno. Rooms are spacious, mattress extremely comfortable! Interior of all facilities is in a beautiful fiorentine artistic style, so when you stay there you have feeling you are in 14th century. NH Hotels chain is a good quality in general,...

I stayed at the hotel for a business trip. It is situated about ten minute walk from town centre in a very secure area as the American Embassy is just around the corner. The staff on the welcome desk were attentive and helpful at check in. The bedroom was very spacious, very high ceilings but furniture was sparse, not at...

Highly recommended. In a quiet and pretty street a stone's throw from the Arno river. A 10-15 minute walk to Ponte Vecchio and centre of city. Friendly staff. Generous buffet breakfast. We stayed in a superior room which was spacious and spotless. Traditional Italian style of decor. Lovely little bar. Good value.

The room was tired and careworn, and also very cold. The staff were brilliant, friendly and very informative and helpful. The location is perfect for the centre yet quiet for the evening/nighttime - which is what we want. Local restaurants are good too.

We were bought a short break in Florence to celebrate our 'special' birthdays. The hotel was very good and we found the staff to be both helpful and friendly, on reception and in the dining room for breakfast. As soon as we arrived we had to hit the ground running as we only had a few days to get everything...

Myself and my boyfriend stayed in the Firenze Anglo American last November. It was our first trip to Italy and this hotel was the first one we stayed at on our holidays. What a fantastic experience we were treated. Our room was beautiful - spacious with a high ceiling with a small balcony looking out onto the (quiet) front street....

I was bitterly disappointed with the stay at this hotel. Although the public areas are beautiful and well maintained, the standard room which we were allocated was very run down and very tired! The wallpaper was peeling off the walls and most of the paint had peeled off the window frames. The 'wardrobe' was hardly adequate to hang our clothes....

We were a group of couples for 3 nights. It's a great location, it's about 10 min walking distance to the downtown historical locations and to the main railway statationand. Convey tranquility thanks to the neighbourhood. Good breakfast buffet and very kind staff.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
