Travellers' Choice
Since opening in 1989, Il Guelfo Bianco Hotel has been constantly evolving but it is only now, after several improvements made in the last 10 years, that we can say that it has a brand new face. After the last renovation rooms are all with parquet. The bedrooms, large and luminous, have all been decorated with antique furniture, artisan draperies and important pieces of contemporary art. Many of these are also present in the common areas. Attention to detail is given to each bedroom whether a single or a De Luxe - the differentiation in category (Executive, Superior, De Luxe or Junior Suite) is based purely on size. The range of accommodation types available allows us to satisfy the multiple needs of our guests, many of whom have contributed with their suggestions over the years, to the final décor of the bedrooms. Our motto is and has always been to improve in such a way to often pleasantly surprise our regular guests; we dont expect to be ‘the first nor ‘the best but we certainly consider our hotel easily distinguishable. All of the improvements have been made with the intent to maintain the original welcoming atmosphere intact; the evolutions have allowed us to upgrade from a friendly nest to a comfortable and warm cradle. a lovely bistro restaurant "IL DESCO" is available from 1200 til 3pm and again from 6,30 to 10,30 pm with seasonal menu with many organic products. Sundays close for dinner.

Pre-arrival communications were excellent. Antonella and Francesco returned emails promptly, cheerfully and clearly. With their help and referral, we were able to pre-arrange for a convenient and comparatively reasonable Covid antigen test at a local farmacia for our last day. The hotel is lovely, and larger than I envisioned. Lobby, hallways and rooms are all tastefully decorated with antiques and artwork. We were booked into Room #101, nicknamed the "Fresco Room"...we went to sleep with cherubs watching over us! This was definitely our most opulent room of our trip, we imagined ourselves to be distinguished guests in the Medici Palace. Breakfast was excellent, though currently because of Covid mandates they need to have a server bring you any item from the buffet...which feels a touch awkward when all you want is the pepper grinder that's within reach of your table. Certainly not Il Guelfo's fault, just the Weird Times we're in. Amazing pastries, great coffee and cheerful staffers. The location is centrally-located, rendering all the A-list attractions an easy 20-minute-or-less walk. The staff were very knowledgeable about good restaurants and sites in Firenze. Special thanks to Clementé, who got up at 4:30 am to arrange our cab to the airport on our departure day. Arrivaderci e Gratzi Mille, Antonella, Francesco e Clementé! Geoff & Mandy

Hotel's Favourite
This was our third time at Il Guelfo Bianco. Wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else in Florence. The people here are so wonderful, the hotel is beautiful and the spot is so close to everything. We just love it here, from the front desk folks to the breakfast and cafe folks you simply can’t ask for more. Highly recommend, you will not regret it!

10 stars! My husband and I reserved our room in this quiet, boutique hotel because of their great rating and their optimal location - around the corner from the Galleria dell' Accademia (David) and walking distance to the Cathedral of Santa Maria, the central S.M. Novella train station and most other sites in Florence. What amazed us when we arrived was that this historic hotel is so beautifully restored with large rooms (ours featured a wood beam coffered ceiling with gold medallions, exposed brick archway, period furniture and on…) yet the bed, amenities and bathroom were fully up to our modern expectations. Even the digital door lock/key seemed to be the latest technology letting housekeeping know when we left our room so they could clean. But what truly amazed us was the staff - from our attentive breakfast host and efficient housekeeping to the front desk staff who greeted us with a smile each time we came through the entrance tired from sightseeing. Then there’s this…The manager, Antonella and also Daniele and Alessandro went way above and beyond by assisting us when a parcel, including gifts and souvenirs, that we had mailed from a Florence post office to home in the U.S. was never delivered. I contacted the hotel after hitting a dead end with the poste. The staff not only located the box; they corrected our error causing the issue, sent it again and we received the parcel in two days. This hotel is a must stay!

Stunning arty charming boutique hotel, in an incredible way capturing the Renaissance atmosphere of Florence. For us, on a romantic escape, it was absolutely amazing. Being nearby the beautiful Piazza del Duomo and the historic city center and easy reachable by car as well did the rest. Breakfast was delicious and the staff very friendly and professional. Definitely to be recommended.
