I traveled with 3 friends to Florence this Month and had the pleasure of spending 3 nights in Hotel Calzaiuoli. The hotel is a 3 star gem in the middle of Florence on a street making walking easy to all the important tourist spots. The rooms/bathrooms are small but very clean and well appointed. Although there was minimal street noise...

This was our FAVORITE hotel during our stay in Italy. We stayed in Rome, Tuscany and Venice but Hotel Calzaiuoli was the best bang for the buck. 1. Location: This hotel was smack dab in the middle of every major sight in Florence. Everything was in walking distance: Major train station only 10-15 minutes, Duomo 3-5 minutes, Piazza della Signoria...

This was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The location is wonderfully convenient, the decor is beautiful and luxurious, everything sparkles and the staff are very pleasant. Breakfast was delicious and relaxed unlike the ruck and maul of the previous morning in Pisa (I was almost trampled by a dozen ferocious middle-aged Americans!). The minibar was, surprisingly, better...

We stayed in a room with a lovely view of the Duome and Campanile. Made me want to take out my camera and take a snapshot rightaway! The room was lovely, and spacious, with a good courtesy tray. The mini bar was not well stocked, but the prices really reasonable for room service. The room was kept spotless round the...

The Calzaiuoli is a lovely hotel in the PERFECT location for experiencing the cultural heart of Florence. Situated on a vibrant pedestrian street betwen the Uffizi, Duomo, the David, Ponte Vecchio, the markets and much more. We stayed in a superior room. A good size (by Italian standards), clean and brightly decorated. Sky TV with more than just the average...

We stayed two nights at the Hotel Calzaiuoli. We had a quad and a double. The rooms and bathrooms were lovely. The bathroom with the quad had a huge whirlpool tub and a shower. We enjoyed breakfast and had excellent service. The hotel staff was very nice and accomodating. They were happy to store our luggage for us until mid-afternoon...

One of the best hotels we stayed in during our trip to Italy.Clean, fairly big with excellent bathroom facilities and some space to walk around the room as well. Not like the usual congested rooms in Europe. They seemed a little understaffed but we still got all our room deliveries of coffee and stuff on time and without a charge for room service.Walking...

Since the mid 1980s, I have made the Calzaiuoli Hotel my only choice for a hotel in Florence. The location is excellent, the rooms are very clean and well appointed, and the service is most personable. In a city as breathtaking as Florence, why would you need more in a hotel? This hotel is a wonderful value, and I have...

We just returned from our trip to Italy and stayed at the Calzaiuoli Hotel one night while in Florence. The hotel was very nice. We arrived around noon and were able to check right in. Our room was very large and nicely decorated. It was a corner room that faced the front and had a great view of the streets....

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
