It s an old hitel that needs updating . Clean , the staff are nice and helpfull .but everything else was mediocre. The breakfast is not what is annouced . It s a four star hotel with not much to offer. It s overpriced. Coming here after Rome s hitels was disappointing.

We traveled to Florence & San Martino with our 2 Puggles this trip. The Hotel Principe was perfect and very understanding to our situation. The hotel is a little dated but very comfortable and the views are splendid. They served us breakfast in the room to ensure we could have a relaxing morning without leaving the dogs by themselves. Parking...

Hotel Principe was recommended by a friend and it was as comfortable and pleasant as described. Since it was off season, the 20 guest rooms were only partially full. I had a charming room with a balcony overlooking the Arno, within easy walking distance of the Ponte Vecchio, etc. but in a very quiet neighborhood with some excellent restaurants, a...

The pictures on all the websites were a far cry from the actual. Despite the Hotel being in a good location, it was very old. I only saw 3 persons in the hotel for my 2 days stay: 1 in reception in the morning, 1 in reception in the afternoon and someone who came to fix the electricals which shortcircuited...

We stayed here in August this year in a family room. Beautiful hotel, with many stunning antiques. Very well located. Staff were very nice staff, attentive and made us very welcome. Breakfast is varied and in line with Italian tradition. Not a hotel for those who like modern hotels, but we loved it. Hope to return again. Complimentary evening drinks...

October 15-18 As it is, I do think Florence is the most romantic city in Italy. Located just on Arno River, the premise feels even more romantic with the gorgeous sunsets and 360 view which could be enjoyed on the roof terrace. My husband and I love the little garden (which is unusual in the city). Also, the walk to...

Front desk staff are very helpful and courteous. Room was great. We got a 2 story loft style room that looked out on the river. Room was very clean. Hallways in the hotel are nice and large so you do not feel cramped. The hotel roof top is great to take pictures and the bar staff are nice. Possibly the...

This hotel has a problem that it cannot cure and cannot control...........extreme traffic noise out in front of the hotel. It is located on the main street right next to the river. The motorcycles at all hours of the night are excessively loud, plus an occasional siren, so you will get little sleep if your room is on the front...

A charming hotel on the river. Set in a slightly quieter location but within easy distance of all you could want to see. Comfortable room and bathroom. The bath in my room would have been more suited to a child but never mind.

We arrived in Florence with no reservations and this hotel made us feel like we were part of their family. Quaint, clean rooms and a wonderful breakfast with fresh items! Some of the best wifi on our trip!

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
