Very dark room which was very out dated .The food was ok if you like pasta .Had a small room with a balcony which doors would not shut !! The shower was ok but towels are very thin .The staff were friendly but would not stay there again.

Stayed at Hotel Byron for two nights. It felt old & tired & needed some work. We had a large room with lots of space to move. By comparison the bathroom was tiny and it was hard to move around bidet, toilet & basin. Quite difficult getting out of the shower which was in the bath. It was so close... More

I recently stayed in this hotel. Horrific experience. Got eaten by bedbugs. I was told that the air conditioning was controlled centrally and that it was unusual for it to be hot this late in the year but the heating would be switched on in 2 weeks. I didnt ask for heating. Window locks were broken so I couldn't close... More

Unfortunately our stay at Byron Hotel, Florence nearly ruined our stay. We stayed in 4 other locations in Italy and had received a very welcome and friendly approach from staff and clean rooms. Hotel Byron gave us a very below par room. The window wouldn't close, the AC didn't work and it was very warm. The decor is very faded... More

I chose the Hotel Byron because of the location. On via della scala, close to the train station, santa maria novella, an easy trek to the town center. But there are many other choices in that neighborhood that would have been more suitable to a Florence stay. First, the bed was 2 saggy mattressed twin beds pushed together. They took... More

This is the typical place that cost three times what it offerr. The room showed on the website were totally different from our one. The staff was not so kind and we have been asked to enter the room four hours after our check in. Totally middle-level breakfast

I am still waiting to hear about the status of the insurance report that was claimed after the theft of two backpacks from the "safe room" on the 12th of July. Who ever took them had enough time to check and only take backpacks that had computers. Police reports were filed and I was told it would take a long... More

We quite enjoyed our stay but we are a young couple in search of a low bugdet center hotel. Our room was located at the last floor. The elevator was terrible. The room had a very small window making it very dark inside. But we did see the famous Duomo so we were happy about it. Our bathroom was big... More

This hotel is absolutely nothing like the pictures on the website. The rooms are dark, dank and smelly. No hair dryers or tea and coffee making facilities were provided, unlike what is stated on the website. The breakfast was awful and as another reviewer has said, the coffee is terrible. We were also placed on the same floor as a... More

They said it is switched off in whole hotel as it is not 40 degrees outside and that we should adjust. I told... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
