We had a nice stay at this hotel! I just want to start off by saying the professional photos look nothing like the actual room. Our room was very outdated, the mattress is very hard, and we were grossed out by the blanket, throw pillows, and curtains. However, it was a very big room, decent sized bathroom, and the air...

We stayed for three nights in September 2016. The weather was very hot ~ 30' in the day and not much less at night. Fortunately, the hotel had air-conditioning. Unfortunately, in our room it was a very noisy, old-fashioned unit on the wall above the door, it was good for keeping the room comfortable during the day whilst we were...

I stayed for one night after coming into Florence on a late flight. The reception staff were courteous and efficient. The room itself was spacious but unfortunately a little dirty and the bathroom had poor plumbing and smelt of sewage. There was also poor noise insulation so I was disturbed quite often during the night. I think this place is...

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while being in Florence. Easy to find as it's very close to the Florence's railway station (7 mins by walking with heavy baggage :) ). Rooms are very good with high ceiling, air-conditioner functioning perfectly. The restrooms are clean and equipped with everything you'll need. The style of the hotel perfectly matches...

Perfect location. We travelled into Florence by train so it was only 5 min walk away. Right on the Santa Maria Novella area which has a few nice restaurants & bars. The hotel was walking distance from the main attractions (Duomo & Uffizi). The hotel staff were very helpful & was easy to check in & out.

We booked a quadruple room via hotels.com. First off the pictures on trip advisor and hotels.com are absolutely nothing like the room we reviewed. The room is outdated I mean way out of this world. It's dirty, the hairdryer resembles a vacuum cleaner. The mattresses are hard and one of the twin mattresses we had felt like cardboard on a...

I have just spent a week in Florence and greatly enjoyed the whole experience. Situated in a charming 17th century building, the Unicorno Hotel is quite close to the major attractions of the city, as well as to the train station. My room (on the third floor) had been recently renovated. As far as the members of the staff are...

Hotel is a five minute walk from the train station and situated in the heart of Florence right next to a beautiful square with amazing restaurants. There is often live music in the square. The hotel was very authentic, staff very helpful providing plenty of honest recommendations. The rooms were very spacious, free safe, very clean, comfortable beds and good...

Me and a friend stayed here in the beginning og July. A perfect location, walking distance to everything. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The Young guy working there was excellent. He was always smiling and eager to help us find the best places to go. We asked him where he normally would go to eat pizza. He then...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
