This is a beautiful small hotel within walking distance of the train station, Fierenze SM. The different front desk personnel were helpful at different times of the day, when we needed them. They were helpful with directions, accommodations and made us feel welcome as their guests. In the evening when we wanted to venture out for dinner nearby, the clerk...

Had a nice stay in this hotel two nights ago. It was relatively quiet, cosy and warm. My room was the single room. It is quite small but I don't feel it is a problem at all and is perfect for a single traveler. The breakfast was wonderful!

Booking city hotels is never easy, as often prices are expensive and you never seem to get value for money. Stayed in this hotel for a couple of days just before Christmas. It's a short walk from the main railway station, on a good street with lots of other hotels and eateries. Rooms are comfortable, with simple but smart bathrooms....

Read the reviews and thought it looked good, but thought we might be sacrificing a bit in order to stay close to the train station. We did not sacrifice a thing. Check in was efficient after a quick walk from the train station. The quad room we shared as a family of 4 with a mother, a father and 2...

We arrived from the railway station to the Hotel Alba which was a 5 minute walk and were very happy with the accommodation. Nice and close to the centre of where we wanted to be and their breakfast that was included the next morning was fantastic.

We spent 9 nights here in October, and everything about our stay was wonderful. The very helpful staff felt like family after a few days. They were always able to give great advice, regardless of what we were looking for. The location is really great. A block from Santa Maria Novella train station (with shopping mall underneath!) and from Santa...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
