My husband and I were at this hotel with a group from Road Scholars. The hotel is clean, well-appointed and attractive. Our room was small with no view of the street, but we were in it for such a short time, it didn't matter. The breakfast rooms were cheerful and decorated attractively. The breakfast selection was outstanding (typical European lack...

Enjoyed our stay at Hotel Rivoli. Beautiful courtyard area. Our room was very quiet - third floor. Very comfortable room temperature. Very clean & great shower pressure! Great location for walking to center and train. Would stay there again when in Florence.

This hotel is very well located for travellers using rail in Italy. We stayed 4 nights and walked many of Florence's central areas before getting on a train to Rome. Santa Maria Novella Perfumerie is just across the street and the rail station is a block and a half away. Be aware that cobbles are not suitcase friendly and travelling...

This is a very pleasant hotel, a short walk from SMN station and in walking distance of the centre. It has a lovely courtyard area with bar tables and a jacuzzi. Room was well furnished and high quality. Surprisingly, given its location on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard, it was not noisy. Shower was powerful, though badly designed and...

Our room at the Rivoli was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and room service was excellent too. Great buffet breakfast which was also served outdoors in a lovely patio. Only a couple of blocks away from the main train station and at walking distance from the Duomo. I would definitely recommend it !

We had spent our honeymoon here 25 years ago and we loved it. There is always a danger going back that it won't have the same feel - from the moment we stepped over the threshold any doubts were blown away. The staff were wonderful, the room was large with a lovely balcony, the breakfast was perfect for setting you...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located in the old town of Florence, the Hotel Rivoli offers class hospitality with charm, as well as spacious and elegantly decorated hotel rooms and suites. The Hotel Rivoli is a 4-star superior hotel that is set inside a restored 14th-century Franciscan convent, where guests can breath the charming and unique atmosphere of this ancient historic building in the city of Florence. The restoration has highlighted the architectural details dating back to 1500 such as arches and vaults, coffered ceilings and stone columns. Guests are welcomed in an enchanting setting full of cozy atmosphere, embellished by refined common areas, which are conceived as an oasis of tranquility away from the hectic pace of the city. The Internal Patio, which was obtained from a complete renovation of the Franciscan cloister, is now dedicated to relaxation and wellbeing, featuring an unforgettable 20 sqm-whirlpool that is also open during the winter with a constant water temperature of 36° C. The location could not be better, a few steps from the Santa Maria Novella railway station, the Duomo Cathedral, Ponte Vecchio Bridge, opposite the ancient and famous Officina Profumo di Santa Maria Novella, and the most important museums. In addition to the interior elegant and spacious patio, the Hotel Rivoli guests can enjoy the quiteness of the small "garden of medlar", an exceptional lounge where to spend moments of real relax; in summer time the garden is available for breakfast and dinners prepared and served by Benedicta Restaurant , 3 Michelin forks. ... more   less
