A return visit, 18 months since my last, and I'm still very happy to recommend the Executive hotel. I'm staying for business, but it is more a tourist hotel, and obviously caters to tour groups and independent vacationers. Since my last stay they have improved the internet service (it is now free) and now fine for Skype and email. The...

The Executive Hotel ranks 10 stars in my book! We recently returned from a fabulous week in Florence. We chose to stay at the Executive Hotel because it was recommended by the Institute where our daughter is currently studying. We could not have been happier! We stayed in a deluxe room which was perfect for the three of us. It...

This is a good hotel that's just a short walk from the center of the action. We wanted to stay in a good hotel with a nice bathroom, and a comfy bed. For 90 euros a night including breakfast I would say this hotel delivers. The staff is very friendly and helpful and garage parking is just around the corner...

Please stay somewhere else. The surrounding neighborhood is undesireable to say it nicely and you have to go through it to walk anywhere. Our room was dark and musty, it was old and tattered and quite frankly, of questionable sanitary condition. It felt like nearly everything in the hotel was on its last legs, including things you depend on -...

Good hotel close to the Ognissanti Church and the railway station of S.ta Maria Novella (200 mt far) . So you can reach Firenze by train and have the hotel and all the centre of town at a walking distance, forgetting completely car and taxis. This hotel provides very good service but not a reastaurant. Don't worry, around the corner...

Stayed three nights in November 2011 - we got a great deal from Voyage Prive. We had a ground floor deluxe room (no. 103) which had a small courtyard garden. The room was very comfortable - king size bed, mini bar, TV. French doors led out onto the little courtyard, but also faced the street so there was some street...

Sketchy neighborhood AND far from everything. The hotel is ok, nothing good to report. The shower and t.v. didn't work and we called them TWICE to fix the t.v. and they accused us of misplacing the remote. The breakfast sucked! The meat and cheese were old and the cheese had mold on it PLUS some lady paces back and forth...

I was very pleased when I chose this hotel from the tripadvisor comments. This hotel is very nice with reasonable rates. The room we had overlooked the river walkway. The room was roomy with a safe, fridge, airconditioning a desk and a separate table and fireplace. The bathroom was very nice with nice towels. The hotel is close to the...

My friends and I stayed 3 nights at Executive Hotel. It's a 4 star hotel, but it gives you not a flashy luxuriousness, nor plain structural functionality, but a real comfortability that you feel like you're home. We (3 ladies) stayed at an big American type of hotel before Florence, and the building quality itself was better there(eg. larger and...

We took a trip to Firenze and Pisa for a weekend and stayed here for two nights. The location is good, near river Arno and still just 15 min of pleasant walk by the river or through narrow side streets from the most crowded streets around Duomo. Parking is in the neighbouring street in a public garage and not very...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
