We were in Florence for the cycling World Championships. The hotel is in a good location for sightseeing, although the street is not one of the liveliest in Florence. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and we stayed in a lovely large room with its own little terrace where we could have breakfast. As in most older buildings in large...

Will definitely stay there again when we return to Firenze; wouldn't change a thing! Helpful staff, clean, well appointed rooms and close to all the city's many museums, shops and restaurants; we walked everywhere, even back to the train station.

This hotel is in walking distance to many great museums and restaurants. The staff is very knowledgeable on places of interest and especially good restaurants. The staff at the front desk speak English . The breakfast is great also. If you planning a trip to Florence, Italy I highly recommend you give Paolo and his staff a call.

We loved Florence because of the feel of the city and Hotel Morandi enhanced that feeling. Great staff and service inside a building (converted convent) with character and charm. Loved the breakfast service. We walked to all the main attractions.

Room was nice but very dark with no natural light, due to the shutters. Room had a bit of a musty smell. Location was convent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was originally a convent and still had a bit of that feel.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
