My friend and I stayed at Hotel Maxim for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay very much. The best feature was the location - it is walking distance to the Duomo and many other sights and a short cab ride from the train station. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was a great way to start our...

We picked this hotel due to its great location. Its a short walk to most of the sites. Our room faced the street but noise was not a problem. The front desk was very helpful with reservations and directions. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. Considering its location the price was very very reasonable.

We have just returned after spending 2 days at the hotel Maxim. We initially found it difficult to find the hotel, and even asking locals we were no wiser to finding it. Eventually we asked a taxi driver who sent us in the right direction. There is a lift that takes you to where the reception is, however floors above...

As other reviews stated, this hotel is is all about the location. No need to repeat all other reviews on that. The rest is very basic and no frills, bring your own shampoo. Mattress is so so, room does not darken, and can have a lot of noise from close proximity to hallway front desk, neighbors, street, etc. I wore...

Check In, Check Out smooth, fast, friendly and knowledge of local attractions and transportation systems. The rooms were small, clean and maintained daily. The bathroom we had on 4th floor was dated, showed its age, water presure in shower was poor, however we managed. Confirm it is a 2 star hotel. The location is what makes this hotel work, you...

This hotel is just the cutest place with Windows that open up onto the Piazza Della Signoria. The Duomo is right up the street and there are plenty of restaurants right there. The staff was fabulous. Would definitely go back

Hotel Maxim is fantastically well-located in Florence, while at the same time good value, clean, friendly and with a decent (if unexciting) breakfast. It's a 2-minute walk from the Duomo (cathedral, baptistry, campanile and museum), 5 minutes from Piazza della Signoria (Palazzo Vecchio, Loggia dei Lanzi, Uffizi, Bargello and Ponte Vecchio), so also close to all the surrounding sites (from...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
