Horrible experience at this hotel . Avoid booking . They show nice pictures in their website but the rooms are an disaster. You can even flash the toilet and the bathroom becomes a swimming pool. The breakfast it's bad , they have sliced bread , butter, and old cereals. My advice, avoid booking at three stars Ariele hotel at any...

Clean hotel, nice stuff, pretty close to the Firenze SMN train station and the city center (15min on foot) in the room next to ours someone had a "fight" all night long, we heard slamming doors, screams and lound voices. we couldn't rest

We have been stopping at this little hotel since 1996, usually in May, a few times in early autumn. The location is ideal, a quiet residential Neighborhood, near the US Consulate, and near the new opera house and a river-side park that is ideal for running. Their are good restaurants and caffés nearby, non- touristy places. The centro storico is...

Food is less, room is huge and cold which shouldn't be in the end of december. The heating was not working and a staff wasn't that helpful about it. Spent two night in the room and all we got a ruined holiday and cold.

My husband and I stayed at the Ariele for three nights. We enjoyed the proximity to the train station, city center, and the breakfast buffet. The true italian character of the hotel has stayed the same after my last visit, 45 years ago. The bathrooms are updated and modern, and the rooms large and comfortable. It was a pleasure speaking...

This hotel was super confusing to find your room. They had rooms all over the place. Not in order of numbers, there were rooms 72 and 36 on the same floor and rooms 30 and 20 on another floor. After about 20 minutes of back and forth we finally managed to find our room, tucked into a corner down a...

Ariele was an amazing choice for us as it was amazing value for our budget. The rooms were clean and spacious with very high ceilings. The decor in the rooms could do with a bit of an update but the rest of the hotel boasted a pleasant historical atmosphere. I also appreciate that the hotel does offer gluten free breakfast...

We had 2 night stay in Ariele. Hotel was great. Room was huge and spacious with attached bathroom. Completely clean, neat and tidy. We had a buffet style breakfast which was included in our booking type. Reasonable spread. Our location was great, we were 10 mins walking distance from the train station. Everything was close by foot. Great experience and...

We did three cities in Italy, picking a hotel in each that fitted our budget and the Ariele in Florence was by far the best of them all. It's located close to the Arno in a quiet part of town, but only a 10 minute walk from the station (tip: easiest way to get from the station without walking much...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Hotel Ariele in Florence, welcome home... To really appreciate the building you live in, it is primarily important to get to know its story. Hotel Ariele is made of two different timeline buildings. The first building is carved out an ancient 1400s tower while the second building derives from a prestigious 1700 palace which is now headquarters of many embassies, amongst others the Helvetian Embassy during Italian Reign. The palace has also hosted numerous Florentine families, amongst others is worth mentioning the Arcangeli of Strozzavolpe also known as order keeping people. Even nowadays you can still smell and feel the luxurious, elegant and sophisticated atmosphere of this Florentine house, just like it was in those wonderful years of the past centuries. You can sense it in the big rooms with the typical arched ceilings, in the intimacy of common areas embellished with antique fireplaces and beautiful pictures on the walls and even in our small but pretty and peaceful garden ideal place for having a drink, reading a book or just entertaining yourself with your friends and loved ones after a day admiring our beautiful and unique Florence or even after a working day when relax is needed. All 42 rooms elegantly furnished and equipped with all comfort, paying particular attention to details, the competent and experienced directors together with our warm-welcoming and expert staff will make sure that your experience in Florence shall be satisfying, exciting, relaxing and unforgettable...See you soon again at Ariele's, your own home... ... more   less

“We stayed on the first floor and even with the comings and goings of people, it wasn't loud or disruptive. The hotel has air conditioning and the AC was actually quiet! We were thrilled with the entire stay.....we got a lot of value from the hotel; we highly recommend it.”
