This hotel is located in a beautiful and historic piazza, and is extremely close to all of the sites of Florence. Our room was beautiful and we had a remarkable view of the Dome and San Lorenzo. A wonderful breakfast is included with the room as well. The only issue is that the room key is decorative, so its large...

Dear Guests, Thank you very much for taking your time and sending your review and thanks again for your choice. We are glad you enjoyed the place and the city. As for the key, a little patience is necessary when the hotel is busy and other guests are asking for information, directions... we try to do our best to help...

Couldn't have had a better location for our 4 nights in Florence. I was skeptical re: the Piazza outside the hotel when I read of the reviews noting there were some homeless in the area, but this was never a problem. This is a small boutique type hotel built in the early sixteenth century, that is recommended in Rick Steve's...

faded elegance, the smell of beeswax and cool stone steps. Hand painted walls, velvet chairs, palms and beautiful lighting all contribute to the sense that one is actually in a film set. I expected Poirot to appear at any second. Our stay was comfortable and it was so easy to walk everywhere since the hotel is very central, 5 minutes...

Had a lovely 6 day stay at Hotel Loggiato. Walked everywhere in Florence and the room was a nice Air-conditioned haven in the middle of the day. Michaelangelo's "David" lives right behind the hotel. Only problem was the clerk did not honor the online special price when we checked out - I should have verified when we checked in but...

We've recently returned from Florence and stayed four nights in this hotel It's location is excellent. Five minutes walk to the Duomo, and about 10 to 15 minutes walk to the station. The room we had overlooked the lovely sqare, but was not noisy at all. The bed was comfy and there was air-conditioning which was great given the heat.Service...

Wondeful staying! The building is a stunning example of old medieval architecture. Very atmospheric rooms and ambience... Nice and helpful staff. Everything was fine and worth the price, a bit expensive, but after all this has been the top experience in beautiful Florence. Recommended for couples and small families.

Wonderful hotel! We booked the least expensive room available, and the rate was excellent, especially given we were going to Florence on a weekend in the high season. Our room was *enormous*, with vaulted ceilings and a four-poster bed (which, it should be noted, was a *real* queen-size bed, not two twin beds pushed together, as is usually the case...

I stayed in this hotel whilst I was attending a meeting at the Innocenti across the piazza. I stayed 5 or 6 nights (originally booked 3). Staff great. Lovely breakfast. The hotel is so close to all the attractions - walked around the block to see Micaelangelo's David, the Duomo and Baptistry was just down the cobbled street and a...

We stayed here for 3 nights and when we opened our window we viewed the Domo and a beautiful garden. The garden room is the way to go because it is quieter. The breakfast was good and plentiful and the service as well. The only drawback was that the air conditioning could not keep up with the heat wave outside...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.

“Loved our room -- very spacious. The parquet floor was a tad slippery, but if you use the provided slippers (and bathrobe, which I did), you will have no problem. There was a hot water heater in the room so I was able to have my morning tea -- an unexpected treat. Everything about our stay was fantastic!”
