The front desk clerk was very polite as well as the doorman and other staff. Unfortunately the first room they showed us to was a complete disaster. Dark, dingy, stained chairs....awful. I talked to the manager and he went up to look at the room. He apologized and sent up champagne and a very nice fruit basket as well as...

Dear Madam, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Hotel Helvetia & Bristol, we are glad you enjoyed it. The front desk staff made our stay special as there wasn't a question they couldn't answer or a request they didn't jump to respond to. Great hotel in a terrific location. Breakfast was excellent and the main lobby was well appointed. We have been to many high end hotels in the U.S. and Europe and this one ranks among the...

I travel to Europe at least once a quarter and have stayed in Florence many times over the years but the Helvetia Bristol is one of my favorites so it really was a no brainer as to where I wanted to stay to celebrate with my wife our anniversary. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The staff and the...

I arrived to the hotel at around 9pm. While I was paying the taxi I expected a bellman to come outside to help me with the luggage. Nobody showed up and I had to carry my luggage inside. There was not any bellman in the lobby. As I approached the front desk carrying my luggage, the front desk personnel smiled...

This is an old hotel and from the two rooms we saw, others we peeked into, and the up and down reviews I suspect that the rooms are very different from each other, possibly each one unique. The first room we saw faced on an airshaft in which the ventilating machinery was located, giving off a constant hum. The bellman...

We stayed at the Helvetia and Bristol August 29-September 2, 2012. Had a great experience. Our first room was located on the street side and extremely noisy. We asked to move and they moved us into a beautiful room the second night (Thank you, Maria). It was so quiet and I slept great. The staff was cordial. They could possibly...

Got and upgrade and bottle of bubbly as we on honeymoon so I may be a bit biased! All the staff were great, it had a real old fashioned hotel feel where you are treated as a guest by 'hosts', nice and formal, which is something many places lack these days. Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
