Conveniently located and easy to find, The Black Sheep surpassed our expectations in comfort, facilities and generous hospitality. Donnatello is friendly, welcoming and gracious host, who makes the best espresso. We found this one of the highlights of our wonderful Italian trip, so full marks to my daughters choice.

The place looked exactly like in the pictures. We enjoyed our stay, it was very near SMN train station and the city center of Florence. It was practically walking distance to everywhere. It felt like home away from home. The place was well decorated and well kept. Donatello was a nice and friendly host who patiently answered all our questions....

Gracious host. Donatello buys fresh pastries and makes a wonderful cappuccino for his guests every morning. He has a desktop for his guests' use which is handy for booking tours and train tickets. There is even Skype if you need to talk to anybody from home. The Gold room is very pretty and there is a bar fridge in the...

Top notch; for location, cleaniness, decor & service. Absolutely gracious host going way out to make our time enjoyable & worthwhile by offering much advice. Wins hands down when compared to other B&Bs & 4-star hotels. Only advice: Downsize the luggages as the 4 storey-climb is steep.-Tracy

Stayed 2 nights at Black Sheep. The best part about Black Sheep is.... everything. Located very near to Santa Maria Novella Station and bus station just a steps away, made access to all places very easy. The B&B located at high floor, very quiet eventhough located at the centre. Everything is within reach. B&B newly operated. The owner, Donatello took...

I was intrigued by the pictures, then amazed by the thought and detail put into the decor on seeing the accomodations in person. So chic, yet also so warm and welcoming! The Silver Suite is very spacious... and provides all the privacy you need. Open the mini bar and find complimentary Prosecco, pour yourself and your partner each a glass,...

We stayed in the Black Sheep B&B for two nights and loved it. It is trendy and modern but still retaining some of the original character and features. Run by lovely and helpful staff, the Black Sheep is clean, comfortable and very conveniently located. We had a pleasant stay and would definitely recommend it.

Centrally located nearby the Central train station and walking distance away from the major tourist atttarctions my girlfriend and I found this hidden gem. This Bed and Breakfast is simply beautiful . It starts with the entance, which is the Bar area and it seems like no effort was too big and no detail too small to create this facility....

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
