great location, great city. the location is good, you can walk from train station and to city, to Duomo, to bridge. This is the only one floor hotel, however, it is better than my thought. good and clean room, large and clean baht room. It is only one star hotel, but it is good. good service, because I ask for...

If you're looking for reasonably priced accommodation close to the Florence train station, Hotel Margaret is a good choice. Not only is it just a 5 minute walk from the station, it's also right by the large Piazza Santa Maria Nouvella, which we found much nicer than similar hotels on busier streets in the neighborhood. The room was spotless. It...

My partner and I stayed here for two nights. Florence is surprisingly small, but it was a convenient location because it was SO close to the train station and just on the outer ring of the old town where all the sights are. The staff was kind of lackluster but nice enough. The hotel and room were clean. We were...

When booking, ask for apartments in Via della Scala 31 on 3rd floor. This is the next door to the hotel and it belongs to same owners. There are 2 connected double rooms with shared batheroom and little hall there - little flat with service for 4 people. It was very nice to stay there - no other tourists, no...

we've stayed in the next door building with the private bathroom. This was actualy an old flat not a hotel room, which was a cute experience, all the windows were inside the courtyard, so it is very quite at night. The location is perfect for 2-3 days in Florence. IF you have more time to spent in the city and...

The staff was very friendly and provided us each with a free map of florence on our arrival. It is cash only. The room was very clean and comfortable. There was a shower in the room, but the toilet was down the hallway. Overall it was great value for money, and near the train station, and we were able to...

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. We booked a double room which looked out into a courtyard. The room was a decent size and had it's own bathroom. When we arrived we found the door open so we closed it before we went out for the day. We inquired about the air conditioning and were...

e were really impressed with Hotel Margaret. It was easy to find and pretty close to all the main attractions. The staff were eager to help out and very personal. The rooms were kept impeccably clean, as were the washrooms and common areas. The family has owned the hotel for over 50 yrs, and they still take pride in how...

My husband and I stayed at this inn for 3 days in Florence during our trip through western Europe. If you are looking for a budget hotel, look no further. This hotel is literally 5 minutes from all of Florence's attractions. The rooms are large, spacious and clean with private bathrooms. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
